Just started folding a few weeks ago and just wanted to say hi. I have been a lurking for a while and finally decided to join.

My rig is in a constant state of upgrade as I'm sure most of you are the same way. (wife calls it an obsession.) Anyway, when time and money permit I try and stay as current as possible. Like I said before I just started folding after being talked into it by a fellow member and friend. I primarily use my rig for gaming and some video editing/encoding. I look forward to contributing and getting much needed info from the experts here.

My Rig
Antec 900
Corsair 750HX
Q9550 @3.4
Asus Striker II Formula SLI
8GB DDR2 PC6400- Corsair
(2) GTX 260's in sli
Light-on DVD/CD burner
Big Typhoon CPU cooler
22" Samsung LCD and a 32" HDTV when it decides to work properly.

Rogue, welcome to the [H]orde. Thanks very much for deciding to join us.

Welcome!!! Always good to see a new face on the team.

Welcome :)

Now try and mow as many team members as possible :p

Welcome to the fold.

If your wife thought you had a problem before......

Welcome to the addiction :D

If you need any help squeezing the most PPD from your box just as ask :)

The more the merrier. Welcome to the mighty [H]orde.

Fold On!

Welcome to the [H]orde, and glad to have you as a member of the team!

That rig should generate some nice numbers. With an SMP2 CPU client and a couple GPU clients around 20K-25K, I would guestimate. Thanks for joining!

first of all welcome! second No more sli allowed removing it will allow 2 gpu clients+smp will get you a solid 20,000 ppd + - depending if you overclock. third sounds like you might have extra parts enough for a slower box? or sell them here. donate whatever suites you. now if your a competitive kinda guy ill make a bet with you. once you have acumilated a fare amount of points and some new guy/girl starts catching you you will willingly discard the sli cable to keep that from happening.

I'm sure you'll find all the answers here when it comes to spending money

glad to have you onboard!

Thanks all. Allow me to address a few things that were brought up among all the greetings.

I have been folding with SLI on for 2 weeks no issues. As long as I have my 2 monitors hooked up it works great.

Wife has been appeased for now with the purchase of a new puppy. ;) So let the upgrade suggestions begin.

I am using 2 GPU clients to fold on each card. Although I have been slacking over the weekend. I do not have a CPU client yet. Took me a good while to figure out the proper way to set up the 2 GPU clients to work at the same time. Is it just me or do some people intentionally point you in the wrong direction???

I am interested in maximizing my PPD but beyond that I am not sure how to go about that.

GPU clocks are as follows.

Core 693
Shader 1475
Mem 1172

Thanks all.

Its all fun until the next new guy mows you, then it gets serious

I'm sure that's the case. Can anyone direct me on where to find info on setting up another client to run on my CPU also? Thanks again.

Just to add to Kendrak's post, you'll need to get a passkey from here and use it with your CPU clients in order to qualify for the bonus points with the new A3 workunits: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

Also, you'll want to use HFM.NET or Fahspy to monitor your clients if you aren't already, since they will include the bonus in their points calculations whereas Fahmon (the other popular monitoring app) will not.

thats good to know. Im sure i read somewhere that it didnt work. good to know it does

Yup it works without a hitch. I just extend the desktop onto both and fold away. I had read the same thing about it not working unless you had a "dummy plug". I had the flat screen hanging on the wall next to my rig and though why not try it and it worked. One thing that did not work that I tried was hooking into my second input on my primary monitor. Bad news.
