New Green Comet Coming in April

While this isn’t totally tech related, the idea that a random guy could discover a new comet with his trusty digital camera is pretty cool. Scientists say the comet is to dim to catch with the naked eye, but a telescope or binoculars might do the job.

Remarkably, Lovejoy made the discovery not with a telescope but using an off-the-shelf digital camera! In fact, it appears to be the very first case of the discovery of a comet discovered in this manner.

This is actually scary..what if this was headed right for Earth and was now just getting found..just goes to prove how vast space is and far we need to go in searching for near earth rocks..wow

BLeh dude, we watch like 1% of our skyline looking for NEOs. Im sure one day it will come up and bite us in the @ss, but no one like spends money on academic scienbces - until of course we KNOW there is a threat, at which point its too late.
