Ok, so I know this will generate a lot of opinions but I'm looking to update my Sapphire Toxic 6950 and am hoping to get a few ideas. My initial thoughts were to get a R9 290 as the MSRP and performance were stellar at release but they have become so overpriced it's out of my league. My budget is around $300 to $350. I am looking to maintain good FPS on a variety of games with most if not all bells and whistles turned on and also be able to continue doing so for the next 12-18mo without having to upgrade or start to turn a lot of settings down. Below are the core components of my current build:

I7 3770k
Asus P8Z77-V Delux
16GB DDR3
256GB Crucial SSD
Asus 23" 1080P LED LCD

Thanks!

GTX 770 would be your best bet. Theres nothing in the AMD side that would be worth it, just super overpriced 7950s with new stickers.

Would it make sense to jump from the 2GB 770 to the 4GB version for 1080P gaming?
At 1080p, probably not. The 4GB version would get bandwidth-starved anyway if you ever started to need that much VRAM.
