Hi everyone.
I've been reading HardOCP for a really really long time now, and only recently decided to join the forums. But let's not offtopic here! The thing is, I'm going to buy a new GPU cooler for my HD5870 [Reference Design], the Accelero Xtreme III to be more precise, but i'm concerned it won't fit my case.

I Own a Cooler Master 690 Advanced II, and CM says it can fit 304 mm cards in it. The cooler size according to Arctic is 288mm, but it offsets a bit when installed on the VGA.

Is there anyway to know if it will fit or not? Cause i really don't want to go trow away money just "because" :)

For anyone wondering, it will NOT fit UNLESS you take out the first 2 (or the 4 bellow) HDD Cages. The cooler when installed doesn't get completely close to the beginning of the card, and thus, it will get the card a total horizontal size of around 308mm, thus not fitting.

Taking the upper parts is easy. Just dismount all the down bays (and all your computer), and with a very small drill, take out the "automatic screws" that the box has. I did it without even getting a scratch on my box ;)

Or if you are lazy, just take the screws of the bays bellow and put your card on the second PCI-E slot, your call ;)

Don't let this scare you. The cooler is TOTALLY worth the damn money. With 32ºC ambient temperature, my HD5870 usually would get to 82ºC playing a game that only loads her @ ~50% (I had to speed up the fan t 40% or more when i played a game that would load her close to 100%, because i didn't want her to get much hotter). With this cooler, and same ambient temperature, with the fans on MINIMUM, the card will not pass 45ºC with that game, and not pass 48 ~ 49 with a heavy game. If i speed up the fan i can get it close to 40ºC, and it is still barely audible. Do note that my 32ºC Ambient temperature are not made up, they are ACTUALLY 32ºC. The card only gets around 13~18ºC hotter then the ambient temperature, at least here.

It's a great cooler for people who live in damn hot places like i do ;)
