Was looking on the internet today and saw that there is a new company producing video cards. Their main focus seems to be placed on HD graphics similar to that of an HDTV. They have a pci-express card for sale retailing at $149.99 w/full DirectX 9 support, plus a full list of compatible games. Just about all the games that I play were on the list including Half-Life 2. Just wanted to see what you guys thought, and if anyone out has bought one of these cards, how does it compare to nvidia and ati cards? Theres a link below with more info.

S3 isn't new

yeah, i admit it, i had an S3 virge at one point :D

actually, one of the better 2D cards I had, before I even had a 3D card, was the S3 Trio64 with EDO DRAM
 
This is correct. S3 was originally one of the top contenders in the video card market back in the day. I also admit I had an s3 Savage 4 16 mb . Boy that card lasted me a long time. Too bad driver support was nowhere to be found.
 
I had a Savage 4 also in a very old computer.

But as far as today S3 cant even keep up, dont touch their current products, they're nothing but crap.

Heh, I still have a S3 Virge, and a savage for that matter. not for gaming mind you, just my folding machines.

 
I replaced my 16meg voodoo banshee with an 8meg S3 Savage4 I got at some weird compusa surplus sale. I think it came out of an old compaq or something. It wasn't too bad really. I remember getting about an average 40fps in quake3 which was better than the banshee which got around 30.
