I plan to build a computer that is more than prepared for Doom 3 and HL2. My budget is around $1000 to $1200. I already have an ATi AIW 9800 Pro card for it and the rest of it will be comprised from the following hardware:

Case:
Thermaltake VA3000 Dream Tower Tsunami VA3000SWA ATX Case with Transparent X type side panel window ($136)

Optical Drive 1:
NEC 8X Black Dual Layer DVD+/-RW Drive, Model ND-2510A BLK, OEM BULK ($73)

Optical Drive 2:
Rosewill 52x32x52x16 CD-RW & DVD Black Combo Drive, Model C523216B, Retail ($40)

Memory:
Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Pro Series, Low Latency (Twin Pack) 184 Pin 1GB (512MBx2) DDR PC-3200PRO - Retail ($352)

Mother Board:
ABIT "AV8" K8T800 Pro Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket 939 CPU -RETAIL ($120)

Processor:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 512K, L2 Cache, Windows Compatible 64-bit Processor 939 Pin - Retail ($352)

Hard Drive(s):
Please reccomend an 80GB SATA drive i can get two of for RAID0.

Processor Cooling:
Please Reccomend a HS and fan.

If there is anything you would change, go for it. my budget, like i said, is about $1200. I want this PC to last a while. so reccomend away. and thanks!...
 
WHat about a HSF for the CPU? And does anyone have expirience with the chosen case?
 
So far I have only heard favorable things about that case, if the fan grills are cut out and the Thermaltake branding removed.

I have an Hitachi Sata HD and I like it. It is fast, and somewhat quiet.

Great lookin rig. Should be a badass frag box. I second the recommendation of the Seagate, and good choice on the Corsair mem.

You'll have to tell us how you like it, cuz I've been arguing with a friend over the budget value of the 3500+ over the 3800+ or fx53.
 
shoot.... new egg is out of the 3500+ should i switch to a better one or wait it out? I was planning to order tonight. Nutz
