Hello everyone. I'm going to be building a new computer within the next 3 weeks and was wondering everyone's thoughts on the items that I have chosen. It's been about 6 years since my last computer and I am still running on AGP and single core. I mainly play games (WoW, Call of Duty, and Battlefield) and do a bit of computer programming and school work. The games i play are not too demanding but i just want an overall good computer that may last a couple years.

My limit is around $1400. So far this is what I have planned.

Right now I am sitting around $1350. How do you guys think this system will perform and what else am i missing? Later on I plan on adding another 4890.
 
Operating system, win7rc?

Monitor big enough to not hold your gpu back 1900x1200 or so ~$300

I would and have put a modular power supply in a 900, you'll thank yourself later

And are you buying 2 hard drives for space or raid? I had a raid setup for a bit in my gaming rig and it was actually a little slower for loading the OS and other programs. It doesn't help you at all if you game. I took it to one drive before I got the ssd and it was a tad more responsive. I would only recommend raid for large file transfer speed. If you don't transfer a lot of files, it's really not worth the effort or money IMO. Just one more driver to load when windows starts

I personally would peruse the f/s section before buying all new parts too. you could potentially save 20% or more after all is said and done.
 
I will be doing a little overclocking. I will have to look into a modular power supply as well. I have one currently and it is pretty nice. As for an operating system, I wanted to just use XP until windows 7 came out. Not sure what the drawbacks of using XP would be though.
