Just joined 33 today. Since I leave the compy on most of the day i've decided to put its power to use. :D I read on here for ppl who have more than 512MB they should do the large packets. Is that still ok to do if you have 512?

Btw, I will be adding a G4 Cube 450MHz to do 24/7 folding soon. I also have an Xbox sitting around. If I modded it to use Linux, you think that Linux console version would run on it? And have any of you done it? lol

Yeehaw lol almost got my first WU done. As of this its 113/125. I started my laptop this morning doing it. That one has a 400 framer and thats gonna take awhile. oh well. :D I've never done this stuff before. Dare I say this is fun? lol

Glad to have you aboard! Set that G4 to use timeless WU when you get it set up. I have a 700 MHz Mac folding for me, and it really chokes on larger WU, so I'd advise using timeless WU for yours. I don't know anything about the Mac FAH clients, so you'll have to get some great advice form our other fine members about configuring a Mac client.

I was wondering this. When I use another computer and add my name and team for it...will it automatically show up as an active CPU or do i have to do something to a file or...?
 
Stanford tracks your active CPUs.... all you have to do is start the client on the PC, plug in your name and team 33 (yes, it's required by law that you MUST use team 33 :D ) and it'll start chugging away.... Once it turns in a WU, Stanford will add one CPU to your count...

Ah ok. Well, the mac is all set up and its folding away. Its network-less until i get a longer cable and its also KVM-less as it screws up my gaming lol. So really all its connected to is the power. In the 5 min i was watching it, it didn't change 0.01% lol so its gonna take awhile i guess haha. I should take a pic cuz this G4 Cube doesn't look the way you think it does. Pic time...

I was getting ready to mod it...still needs sanding and paint done but the internals are done. But since I started this I dunno if its ever gonna get done lol. as you can see a fan is at the back blowing air across the heatsink. fairly nice job for that i must say...wasn't too good of a fit so i had to make it fit. its an antec 80mm. hooked it up with a 3-pin to molex adapter i had laying around. also networked now so it can update itself.

Seriously, if you want to try, I'm game...

Get Linux running and set up an ssh server, and I'll see what I can do :D
 
Yeah I wanna try. I just need to pick up the usb adapter for it which I think i'll order today. I really dunno where i'm gonna put that though as i am really out of outlets in my room. unless i pick up a wireless adapter which will have to wait as i don't have much money (college suxor) lol. i'll figure somethin out. we can get like a worklog goin once i get all the stuff needed. i'll let you know.

One of the weirdest images for me...haha. Just weird because i've never seen a Mac desktop on top of a Win desktop like this before. I've seen screen shots of that Pear program but this is just funny lol. I love VNC though. Use it at my school district for remote repairs.
