new fan for 9200

i think my ati gigabyte radeon 9200 fan froze to dead. since ive moved my computer to my basement and its really cold these past few days in new york as you know, its started making grinding sound then all of a sudden it stopped, i tried wiggling it around, putting oil on it and it still doesn't work, i wonder if theres a replacement fan for this, and i dont want to mod it
 
You can always RMA it, or just get an other 70, 80, 90, or 92mm fan, and tape it or tie it to the video card. <--- this sould not void your warranty because your not modded the card.

Or turn your PC upsidedown and just lay the fan on top of the video card's HS. Or lay your PC sideway (like mine) and put the fan parallel with the video card (use 120mm like i use)
 
Or you could try running it fanless. There's quite a few 9200s on the market w/o fans..
 
i want to run it w/o a fan but theres only a flat peice of metal under the fan w/o any of those fins sticking out, and i dont think i can rma it because i threw away the box, brought it almost 1 1/2 yrs ago, arent there any replacment fans?
 
You could try one of those small Vantec fans that have been seen on many VC's in this forum, or try passive cooling with a Zalman or Thermaltake heat pipe. Other people here have modded a 1U HSF for a socket A CPU onto thier cards. You do have a bunch of options here, as we all know, the search engine here is annoyingly resting in peace, so you might have to flip through a few pages in this forum to find what kind of options might grab your attention.
 
You could use nearly any fan with a screw, just screw one corner onto the heatsink and presto, insta ghetto cooling.
