for the first time ever, newegg has made me sad. i rma'd a msi k8tneo fis2r.. next day i get a replacement, i take it home from work to install it, and begin to install the proc with HSF duct and realize the silver thing isnt there, and it had actually been put on.. then taken off and not stuck back into the mobo box. now ok this isnt all that bad. i had extra few laying around.

now next thing, over the raid controller chip.. there was some sticky residue that looked like it was splattered over the bottom right corner of the board. i think it was like syrup or sap.. atleast thats what it looked like. but when i smelled it, it had no sent.. didnt have the balls to taste it.. but i was given a POS refurbished msi k8tneo for my dead msi k8tneo :(

sry lol, i already have. and they had it sent overnight, but it was still really bad i mean there was protien marks all over the mobo :rolleyes:
 
I recieved a piece of shit refurbished nf7-s after i rma'd my orignal (practically new) one to abit. I complained and in return got 2 more! I had 3 nf7-s' at my house, with 2 return slips. I ended up taking the best one (OC wise anyways) and sending the other 2 back. abit is crazy, but wonderful :p
 
I recently got f***ed by NewEgg. Just today I got all the parts to a new system I'm building - Athlon 64 processor, Epox nForce3 motherboard, new hard drive, GeForce 6800... the works. I got all excited and put everything together. There were lines all over the screen at startup. I put in my old video card (a Radeon 9600 Pro) and the lines are all gone and it works perfectly. Well, that's just great. Gotta send the GeForce 6800 back for a replacement now.

Anyway, I was pretty sure all I'd have to do would be to send the 6800 back and make do with the 9600 until I got a replacement. Nope, now my motherboard is also acting up. The ethernet port appears to be on the fritz. I uninstalled and reinstalled all the drivers, and Windows tells me it's conencted, but I can't load any web pages. The moment I plug it into my PCI ethernet card, boom, it loads up. I don't know if it's worth taking the computer apart, putting my old motherboard back in, and sending the new one back for the faulty ethernet. I'm not really looking forward to the amount of time I'd have to spend tinkering to get it back to my old nForce2 system, only to switch it back (and redo all my beautiful cabling too) within a few days. I can always just keep using my ethernet card I guess, but it sucks that TWO of the most critical components for my new system are busted.

I feel your pain. Just about every time I order a lot of stuff, SOMETHING has to go wrong. The first time I built a PC, the video card was faulty. Luckily the motherboard had onboard video. Second one had a bad motherboard that somehow took a month to get back to me. I was convinced it had been lost in the mail. The last one had problems with the IDE devices and jumper settings, and finally this one has a bad video card AND a bad motherboard. Ah well, I guess I'll avoid EPoX next time.

Uhhh dont mean to challenge your techical ability as im not aware of how handy you are with building PCs but ive never ever had a problem with ordering parts online. Sounds like some of those problems are just common problems like IDE cable setup, when it wouldnt read the drives did you try setting jumpers to cable select and such? Ive had several problems with working on my PC but nothing related to faulty hardware. Alot of people are quick to RMA instead of try and debug the problem.

When i got my NF2 setup i couldnt run task manager or even load the start menu unless it was in safe mode. After a few days of looking for techical help and asking question i had though i might as well download the new mobo drivers on another computer and burn it to CD then install them in safe mode to see if it worked. And what do ya know it worked fine after that :p
 
Did you install your lan drivers?

Some times its not a easy as plug and go.
 
No, I know that some of those things were my fault. The video card is DEFINITELY not my fault. I'm not really an expert but I have built a few systems so I'm not a complete noob either.

I'm just going to have to fiddle with my motherboard drivers now. I did install them, then I uninstalled and reinstalled. I do have a fully functional PCI ethernet card, so it's not the end of the world. I'll probably get it working eventually.

I was mainly commenting that it's rare to start up a system and have absolutely no problems from the get-go. There's always something wrong, whether it's defective hardware or user error ;) .

I noticed that the GeForce 6800 I bought is now no longer in stock. Last time I RMA'd an item that was no longer in stock, I was given a full refund. Maybe I can do that again this time and buy an eVGA this time - I haven't heard much about "Jaton" but the eVGA was sold out when I ordered it.
 
I've had really good luck with NewEgg. I've received a few bad parts of the last year or so since I've been ordering from them, but the customer service has been superb for me. All the RMA's were quick, and there have been a few unique issues, which various CS reps were able to take care of for me satisfactorily.

Keep in mind, that if you're ordering a part and it's factory sealed, it's not NewEgg's fault if it's bad. And they do reserve the right to send you "refurb" merchandise for RMA replacements.

I'm not a NewEgg fan boy, just a satisfied customer. They're not perfect, but they're still one of the best online resellers out there.

Edit: "fan boy" as one word is blocked? That's odd... :confused:
