New Egg Concern

New Egg I feel has their clients build up now. prices may be slightly higher than some others, but when people had no where else to turn, they used NE. NE treated them good, and now people don't change sometimes even if it is for 5 bucks or paying for shipping. NE started out having the best deals anywhere to get everyone using NE. Now they got the business they want to make some more money. I don't know, I just order whereever is cheaper.

Yah, good point. A lot of people are scared of buying new stuff online (even this generation), so they like going to a big place thats comfortable. However, I'm still a student and I want the best for bottom dollar :p

Ive been buying parts online for as long as I can remember (anybody else remember the old Usenet forsale topics?). I buy parts from whoever has the cheapest price and a decent reseller rating. I am definitely NOT loyal to any one company.

Their prices have really gone up, which is a shame.

And I wouldn't have so much of a beef with their shipping, but they insist on charging seperate shipping for each item, and then when it arrives on your door step it's usually in one big box

Tax in CA can really add up. (I get charged 8.25% here)

Their new website looks trashy.

A Fry's opened up near my house not too long ago.

All reasons why i'm having trouble going to newegg when i'm looking to buy something.

That is very true. I am also a student. When my parents need to buy something for their computer, like a DVD-Burner, they also turn to Newegg. Who likes having their credit card information being sent to some unfamiliar website?

for safe purchases for my parents, its either newegg or zzf, but for myself, with either their credit card or a paypal account, i order from like xoxide, cooler guys, viper pc, easypc lapping kits, svc. loads of places, and i have yet to be scammed.

This is the umpteenth time someone has posted a thread somewhere on these forums complaining about neweggs prices. Can people stop whining? The big companies will always charge a slight premium simply because they have name recognition and can get away with it. Whether you all like it or not, newegg has become one of those big companies, and are simply doing what is best for their business. They still have great customer service, so I still use them for many things because I feel more secure buying from them than from many of the smaller companies on the net.

If you dont like their prices, shop somewhere else, it is as simple as that. You dont all need to start a "Has anyone noticed that newegg isn't the cheapest anymore?" thread.

Who's whining? All we're saying is it's too bad we lost a good company. If you like newegg, fine, shop there, there's no need to take personal offense.

I think the name newegg sounds pretty gay / lame. What do eggs and computers have in common anyways?

LOL someone who has a big brain, people who mess with pcs tend to be smart, hence eggheads? i dunno. i remember there was a pc store called egghead around me a few years ago.

A few years ago? lol try like 15 years ago lol, Egghead went out of business a LOOOOONNNNG time ago. They were back in the day when 486 was like WOW look how fast it is. I remember my computer back then had a turbo button lol...instant overclocking mwahahaha. It probably went for 33mhz to 50mhz lol

What really concerns me is the new interface sucks a$$!

I also have to agree with you on that one. The old interface you would get around easier. Now you have to click tons of stuff before getting to the place you want to go. Can't even find the clearence/refirbished section anymore.

i was sitting in guidance waiting to get my schedule for next year check out, and i saw a computer with a turbo button on it, and i was like YES! auto overclocking! and i pressed the turbo button for like 20 minutes, and the rig got way way hot. i was psyched, i could see a noticable difference in ms paint though :D

guess what i saw no less then 10 minutes ago! another computer with a turbo button. it was at my grandparents house, i just built then a sempy 2300+ rig that will smoke that turbo button any day. i think im gonna open that rig up and check out the processor thats inside, the sticker only said intel inside, and it had a 51/4 in floppy drive. there was soo many legacy items, like a legacy mouse, and a legacy keyboard. ohh man i had quite the laugh at that

I think the whole tax deal thats being worked on by local governments is gonna kill alotta of the online ordering. They wanna make it to where you pay your local tax no matter where you order the items from.. You pay the ship to address's tax's which with shipping is insane imo.. Government is slowing screwing up the economy with their slick methods and constant brainwashing...

If online goods must be taxed, need free shipping to help things out.. which then would need additional tax money to accomplish

""yes, our budget will be perfect once we get tax's on your online outta state purchase's.....Two years later, """our budget isn't keeping up with demands, so we are forced to increase property tax, and sales tax to keep things even"""" """"

BullSh$% overtaxation while slick politicians skim off layers for their selfs ortta be treason...

</Rant>

Der, rebulican warhawk governments suck, where have you been?

I have seen both parties post the raising tax crap, I lean towards Republicans more though.

Yep, leave the Internet alone. If taxes need to be increased (and most likely they do), then get it from somewhere else.
