I see one problem. You have three IDE devices and only one IDE port on the board. Will have to buy an add on IDE card .

um, that's why he has the IDE => SATA adapter listed in the build. sounds like a good setup with only one questionable part. the patriot memory, i've had very good experience with patriot memory and i don't doubt them one bit, but judging by your choices in hardware it looks like you might be wanting to overclock this machine. i haven't read too much about overclocking with patriot memory. just keep that in mind before you order.

yup, the patriot is overclocking like mad and seems to be compatable with all the new Conroe boards. Definitely a good buy

You should get rid of that SATA to IDE connector and get an IDE to SATA connector :) might help you out more.

There is a $25 discount on the DS3+E6300 combo at Newegg. Has been for ages. Comes to $330.99 for both. Your shipping should be lower if you make it one order. Try adding all you Newegg items to cart and check the shipping quote.

What about the case? And are you sure you want to stay with the stock heatsink?

The big typhoon is going for $39.99 + $5 shipping at chiefvalue.com, Newegg's spin-off.

The Zalman 9500cpns is going for $48.99 at Newegg.com. Both are good heatsinks.

Here's a truly monstrous heatsink from Silicon Valley Compucycle. Everything else looks good.

Good luck.

For the case, I will keep my CHIEFTEC Server Chasis (Aluminum Workstation Tower with Plastic Front Cover) Silver w/acrylic window.

"You should get rid of that SATA to IDE connector and get an IDE to SATA connector might help you out more."

Wait...I have a Pioneer DVD drive, a Lite-on CD writer, and a Western Digital 120GB IDE ATA hard drive. And DS3 has only 1 IDE connector, so only 2 IDE devices are supported, right? So I need to connect a SATA cable to a SATA to IDE connector and then connect the SATA to IDE connector to the WD 120GB IDE hard drive. I can do that, right?

If I want to run DDR2 266 to FSB 400 (7*400=2.8GHz), do I need a third-party heatsink? What would be my temp with Intel stock cooler?

CHAINTECH AV-710 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card - Retail
$27.99+$2.17+$6.34=$36.50

What do you think?

That sound card sucks for any newer game you might play.

Shop a little harder for Hard Drives, there's only about $10 difference in the one you picked and one almost twice that size. Go to Creative's EBay store for great deals.

This.

I have that same adapter BTW. The Drive linked above is faster.

Leave you DVD burner on the one IDE port.

Steal this PSU!

I've got the ram. 925 and that's a wrap. While not bad, I'm yearning for more. You'll get a decent OC, not a rocket OC. Not even sure if you're going for stock/oc tho...tired...sleep... :( :(

I hope by Pioneer DVD drive you mean a DVD-RW. It should be a crime not to build a system with DVD writing ability these days.
