First time posting here. I have a Ryzen 7 2700x, with an RTX2070. If I recall correctly, 1080p on some games can put more load on the CPU and result in a drop in fps, whereas 1440p and 2160p puts it more on the graphics card and you can get better fps. My question is, if I upgrade my LG-29UM68-P ultrawide 2560x1080 monitor to a MSI Optix MAG341CQ 34" UW-QHD, would that higher resolution maybe get better frames? Or is the 2700x powerful enough it won't matter?

1920x1080 isn't more CPU dependent necessarily. It's more that it's an easier load for the GPU and so it can crank out far higher framerate which will show the CPU limits more because it may not be able to keep up as well with the GPU.

With 1440 and especially 4K, most GPU's are only gonna give you frames in the sub 100 range if not lower which a CPU can handle easier and keep pace with the GPU. So at these resolutions you're hitting the GPU's redline before the CPU's.

That's why the [H] used Lost Planet at 800x600 when it tested CPU's. Modern GPU's can spit out like 1000 fps there and so a slower CPU won't be able to keep up as well and a CPU that's 5% slower than another will show up more on a game that's getting 200 fps as opposed to one that's only doing 50.

And yes, that 2700x is a perfectly capable CPU for gaming at pretty much any resolution.

No, definitely you won't get higher framerates. Most likely you will get less, because you are rendering more pixels.
