I am trying to decide between getting a CRT and an LCD monitor.

I have an old VS PF790 something (19" CRT), and its starting to get really dark and become a general pain in the ass. Everytime I want to watch something that has a has darker colors on the screen it looks VERY dark. I've read that was a problem with my series. So I was thinking that it time for me to get a new monitor. I've done some searching, on this forum and abroad, but I havent really found what I was looking for in terms of long term reliability issues. I've had my CRT for about seven years, which I think is a pretty good run. I would like to keep the price less than or equal to $300 shipped, but I dont know which brand offers the reliability. Performance is important too, but not as important as reliability. I just had a lot of work done to my car, so cash is sorta tight and I was wondering if you guys had any good ideas.

I have heard that NewEgg has some iffy return problems with LCDs but it looks like if I were to buy an LCD that I would order online, and if I were to get a CRT, I would go to some place locally. I just have no friggin clue where. All the places locally are complete rip-offs.
