well, i want to get a newer video card, another hdd, and a dvd burner for my dimension 8200, from what i've read, this model can use any old atx psu, is this true? if it is, what do you recommend i get? im looking for a fairly cheap psu just to power a 6600 gt, dvd burner and 2 hdd's. Finally, how hard is it to replace a psu? im basically a noob, i have some knowledge but not much, any help is greatly appreciated, thnx

Take a pic of the label on the PSU that is currently in your Dimension 8200. Then post your complete system specs AFTER you do all your upgrading.

My 8250 did just fine with 2 HDDs, a highly overclocked 9800pro, 1GB RDRAM, two optical drives, and several USB devices running off motherboard power. The stock PSU is a lot tougher than people give it credit for. I doubt you will need to replace it.

Optical drives aren't a big factor is power consumption since they barely draw power unless spinning or burning (the rest of the time they are idle).
