Going to Europe this summer so I'm not sure what to get. Lately Ive had my eyes on laptops but I could get so much performance out of a desktop for cheaper. Then again I could take a decent laptop lanning so much easier ;)

If I go desktop I'd most likely be constructing it in a SFF case. Probably the Aspire X-QPack. And I'll probably get 2x AG Neovo LCDs
My budgets gonna be around $1500 for a complete system or very close to it.

On the other hand I can use probably up into $2000~ and get a decent laptop:
17" WUXGA (1920 x 1200)
nVIDIA GeFORCE Go 7800 GTX 256MB DDR 3
1.7GHz Intel® Pentium® M "Sonoma" Processor with 2MB On-Die L2 Cache - 533MHz FSB (1.86 available)
2048MB PC4200 533MHz DDR2 (2x1024MB)
80GB SATA 150/HDD 5400 RPM
8X DVD±R/RW Burner with 4X Dual Layer Write Speed
Smart Lithium Ion Battery - Included
110/220V 90W Auto Switching AC Adapter - Included
Sound Blaster Compatible 3D Audio - Included
Generic Integrated System Speakers - Included
Entry Level Black Vinyl Carrying Case - Included
No OS Desired - CD with Drivers and Utilities Only
Intel® PRO/2915LAN Mini-PCI Card 802.11 a/b/g
Standard 12 Month Parts and Labor Mail-In Coverage
Built-In Digital Video Camera
Price: $23xx

I can make it cheaper by going to 1680 x 1050 screen size which I am considering because then I'll be able to max out games without stressing the card so much on the higher resolution.

Its up to you really. Personally, Id go with a 12" ibook, and a $1000 computer. comp for gaming needs, lappy for everthing else. But thats just me.

12" ibook: $1200

comp for $1000:
Screen you mentioned.
sff case and psu
754 biostar Tforce pcie mobo.
754 Sempy 2800+
1 GIG stick of DDR400 ram
7900GT

That should be the best of both worlds. Your choice. ;)
