New design for client

I like the new design a lot--very clean, easy to use, etc. However, you really need to get rid of the "All New Website" thing on the right--it's too over the top and too blatantly "Web 2.0" (whatever that means) and I think it really degrades the design. Without that, though, like I said, very nice.

I agree about the All new Website, however it was requested by the client as they didn't want long-term customers from their old site thinking they ended up in the wrong place. It'll be temporary, for sure - but it was one of the specific things they requested.

thanks so far for the comments though

Fair enough! Nice work.

The bird is awesome....

Looks great, I like it alot. Can't think of any real criticisms...

Overall, awesome page! Not sure how I feel about the white bullets on the left menu, I THINK it might be better without them, but am unsure, try it out though.

Wow, that is a vast improvement. I can actually see myself buying from a nice site like that.

Also, any opinions on another page that was completed for the client. They love it. Others may not.

The design is good. The only thing I noticed is the bird guy's nose is black on the image in the middle of the page, but up on the banner it's orange. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be ink on his nose...

Not a big deal, but I just thought it looked strange.

The site looks very professional and modern.

I only saw a few minor things the main item I can think of would be a different mouse over effect for the main menu. I was expecting to see more of a button than just a text link.

It would also be interesting to see another level to further breakup the search box as there are a ton of printers to sort through. Instead of having the different series printers in the printer list why not have a series dropdown and then the list of printers.

I guess all thats left is a little bit of validation work and finishing it all up. Nice work

You can use this to achieve something relevant to AMDbuilder's post. Its a simple javascript that requires one field to be filled before another is activated. Its not exact to your specs, but it might help be a start. With a little SSI scripting it has good potential.

Code:
<html>
<head>
<script type=text/javascript>
	function activate() {
	        if (document.getElementById('barcode').value == "000") {
	                document.getElementById('newpart').disabled = false;
	                document.getElementById('newcost').disabled = false;
	                document.getElementById('newprice').disabled = false;
	                document.getElementById('npl').disabled = false;
	                document.getElementById('ncl').disabled = false;
	                document.getElementById('nprl').disabled = false;
	        } else {
	                document.getElementById('newpart').disabled = true;
	                document.getElementById('newcost').disabled = true;
	                document.getElementById('newprice').disabled = true;
	                document.getElementById('npl').disabled = true;
	                document.getElementById('ncl').disabled = true;
	                document.getElementById('nprl').disabled = true;
	        }
	}
</script>
</head>
<body>

<table>
<tr>
	<td>Add Part (000 Non-Inventory): </td>
	<td><input type=text length=15 maxlength=13 name=barcode onkeyup="activate()"></td>
</tr><tr>
	<td><label for=newpart disabled id=npl>Desc: </label>		<input type=text size=20 name=newpart disabled id=newpart></td>
	<td><label for=newcost disabled id=ncl>Cost: $</label>		<input type=text size=7 name=newcost disabled id=newcost></td>
	<td><label for=newprice disabled id=nprl>Price: $</label>	<input type=text size=7 name=newprice disabled id=newprice></td>
</tr>
</table>

</body>
</html>

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback and the help AMD and MadJuggla.

As for the text links, they are not image buttons for loading purposes - the client wanted the site to be fairly quick loading.

I'm definately going to add another option for the printer series - I just have to figure it out, i'm not a javascript expert so if anyone wants to chime in with a javascript that has three dropdowns that populate one another sequentially.. :cool:

Thanks again!

You could use some CSS to put images behind the text links. You would only need a 2-4 pixel wide background and then use repeat-x to create the illusion of having a full button.

You might lose 5-10k total by using background images for the menu for both states. And by using the background images with the text links you could change the text at will without causing any problems.

Granted there would be a bit of CSS styling involved to make it work, but it's not overly hard.

Glad I could be of help,
AMDbuilder

(I hope that all makes sense)
