I downloaded the latest creative drivers for my card (sig), and the difference between the cd-supplied drivers and these are amazing. I didn't think it could sound any better. I was wrong. Coupled with the Z-640s I have, life is good.

How does it sound better? Any idea what it's doing? My guess is that the card is no longer resampling from 44.1 to 48Khz and back, or bypassing the kmixer with its poor rounding [IIRC]

I think this is the first time I have ever seen anyone happy about Creative's drivers. LMAO

I just checked the official site and there is a driver dated 29 July '04. It's a combo of the 2 previous drivers, and has 1 fix for something to do with audio and disconnecting a modem. I'll skip the 29th July drivers as the previous ones are keeping my A2ZS working perfectly.

Perfectly satisfied here. Latest revisions working flawlessly with an Original Audigy and Audigy 2 ZS. Now I just wish they made actual surround sound cards.

I have no idea how they work. I just know that they sound better. It used to sound like the range of possible sounds were not covered, and I had to fiddle with the bass and treble alot. These new drivers reset the bass and treble, and I have no need to adjust anything. Sound from the TV card (Hauppage) sounds better and cleaner too.

I also subscribe to Rhapsody, and it sounds better too. Maybe it enabled something I previously didn't.
