I think we need a new contest to cheer up the team so we would love to hear ideas for a good working contest where everyone should have a equal chance to win something. I will try to find ideas for prizes unless someone has some ideas already or is willing to offer their own prizes.



 
I have a used 1 hour Artic 64 cooler/w box
a Gigabit NIC
Linksys 4port Cable/DSL Router
so far I would donate. I will do more checking!

 
I'm not sure how this fits in with your plans, Xilikon, but I'm craving a contest that involves popcorn. Not sure how this would work. Let me think about this. ;)
 
How about a contest that encourages folders to recruit new members to the [H] team? I haven't thought about the details and various contingencies, but increasing members seems like a very worthy cause.

Perhaps something like this: Each new member recruited earns the recruiter 1 "chance" if/when the new member turns in a completed WU. Recruits register and designate their recruiter on HardFolding.com. At the end of the recruiting drive period, there is a draw for the winner, with the number of chances for winning proportional to the number of recruits. Prize? How about a PS3 or Quad core and a bag of popcorn?

Good idea for this contest :) that would help us replace our recent losses with new ones and try to aim for the 1,000,000 ppd goal.

Pocatello, we can do anything which involve popcorn and here's my own idea : To win, someone must be able to build a folding popcorn machine which can produce a good amount of popcorn while folding for a good cause (think of cpu heat as a source) ;)

As X and I were talking, we think we need to decide on a contest that is fair to everyone. Let's try to get some ideas about a fair contest and then talk prizes. Just my .02 cents ;)

I agree, we will talk about prizes in a separate topic and we can figure a way. mavalpha, I bet someone will cover the shipping costs as a contribution :)

 
Only thing if we do a recruiting match is, we need to somehow verify that they are legitimate new Folders, and not just dummy boxes that the "recruiter" has set up with new names.

I silver Matrix would quite the prize, I used to have a pair of black matrix cases back in the day.

On another note I could throw in the following:

16 port 10/100 switch
ECS Nforce 3A mother board with Sempron 3100+, 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD, and a power supply.
 
I have 1 or 2 Venice 3000+ A64 cpu's, switches, artic coolers, stock copper coolers, and other things I am willing to throw in.
 
How about about a recruiting video contest? Could be serious, or silly. It seams like everyone is getting into watching videos on places like You-tube, and more and more people have access to digital video cameras of some kind. It doesn't have to be a strictly a video it could be a slide-show. Just something that people could watch for 30 seconds to a minute - even longer if the creator wants that.

Great idea... This is fair to everyone as this doesn't rely on production amount :)

This may be our next contest. Since we have lots of prize donations, I'll pick one prize for this contest since there will be other contests because not everyone is good at making videos.

Bring more ideas there :) I want to see a kind of "contestsfest" for the back to school period with various simple contests to give everyone a chance. We can have a pool of prizes winners can pick for each contest :) In the end, we will have a contest of all contests where all winners will fight for a grand prize. What do you think of this ???

 
I think it was BFG a few years ago- they ran a contest on who could get the word out about their products in the most creative way possible. They were suggesting hanging signs off of bridges (with permission), and the winner ended up running a quick story (ten second blurb) on a local news station (FOX-something) mentioning BFG.

Could we do something like that?
 
mavalpha, the problem I have with the BFG thing is that I'd like it if the video/poster/ect can be kept and used at anytime by anyone. I wouldn't have picked the news broadcast as the winner because it's a one time deal, it's not a forever thing that we can comeback and use.

I could see a contest that was all about creating a great video, poster, animation, picture could be silly or not or both, and then voting on all the submissions.
 
I thought a bit about the contestfest idea. It would have 3 sides : artistic (video, banner, pic, etc...), statistics (use the hardfolding.com stats in a way like a race to 50k, etc..) and recruitment (borgfest or recruitathon).

We get 3 winners from each one and we can make the ultimate final to be determined. This will give us the winner of the year with a great prize.

This will be spanned on 3-4 months so we cannot be bored :) It also has a good goal to improve production, get more ppl to fold and bring team friendship.

 
Let's get something going. With relic back starting to stir things up this might be very good :) I got [H]ardware to give!
