Hey just looking for some feedback, better parts, or maybe some incompatibilities here. Have my wishlist put together. Just looking for what everyone thinks of the hardware. Thanks in advance.

Motherboard - Abit IC7-Max3

Proc - P4 Northwood 3.0 Gig 512 cache

Memory - Corsair XMS 512X2

Primary Hard Drive - WD Raptor 36.7 @10000 SATA

Secondary Hard Drive - WD 200 GB @7200 SATA

Video - ATI 9800 Pro 128

I've been looking for the LG Super Multi DVD but haven't had much luck finding one.

Power - Antec True Power 550

And I'll probally get video and CPU coolers from Zalman.

Cases - Looking for a decent one, if nothing else I'll just buy a Luan-Li

And anything else I'll probally just run down to CompUSA and pick up.

That's a nice system you have going. Some suggestions:

I haven't had first hand experience with the IC7-MAX3, but I've seen and heard a lot of complaints about it, just to let you know. Otherwise, HarcOCP named it best mobo of the year 2003.

What speed Corsair XMS are you getting? I think Corsair's RAM mostly uses crappy CH5 chips now. If you're going to overclock, I'd recommend some Mushkin Level II PC3500. It only comes in the dual pack, and the supply is almost gone, but it uses the awesome Bh5 chips. Otherwise, look for the Mushkin Special 2-2-2 RAM; they use BH6, probably still better than CH6.

You don't need a 550 watt PSU. 400 would do, save some cash with a TruPower 430.

And are you going with onboard sound? It's fine if you are, just wondering.

I'm going w/ the PC3200, not sure about overclocking. This is the first serious (read, not completly bargain basement) computer that I am building. Just decided that instead of relying on my video and sound cards I would build an entire system that screams.

I'm just gonna steal my audigy2 platnium from my currect comp.

Thanx
