Hey HardForum I just built my new computer and for some reason any game I play Call of Duty, Bf1942, CS all the games have a tendency to like freeze like when I actually walk the game freezes for like a seceond then plays. Im thinking it can be my PSU for some reason it stays hot even when the comp is off. I thought it was the slow ram but I changed it was PC2100 ram know I have PC3200. Please help thanks alot.

Specs:
ThermalTake 480W PSU
Lite-On Cd-Rw
Athlon +2500 Barton
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
512 PC3200 Ram-Geil brand
Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb-I already replaced the video card twice and still the same thing.
60gb WD HD
40gb Seagate HD

Also its not just online it happens even on single player. Thanks
 
After the initial freeze does it play normally from that point forward or is it always laggy?

What do your system resources look like in task manager?

Nah it doesnt play normally it just keeps doing it after every minute I feel a freeze my resources are fine. Is there something I shouldnt have or should be below? My cpu usage goes to about 30% when Im downloading a file, I have 26 processes going on.
 
No I got a Soundblaster Live 5.1 I just realized that my cpu usage bumps sometimes to about 60% when I open Internet Explorer not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Does it do it off and on, like you will walk and it does it and then unfreezes for a second and then freezes again real quick, for saya split second?

if i stay still it will also still freeze for a second but when I walk if freezes a bit more, could my cpu usage be anything with it, I just saw it go up to 80% when I went to My computer folder.
 
download all, if u want download the sp1a, it come with all the update and update to directx 9. and scan your computer for virus.
 
That didnt help much I downloaded the SPA1 still the same for some reason know my comp feels slower.
 
please, have you read any of the tweak guide? there's an excellent link to a BIOS optimization guide which might solve your problem, there's also a link to a thread where Phoenix86 gives excellent information on your Page File / Swap File settings (which may be the culprit in your case).

just give it a try, it'll help. i promise ;)
 
I had this same problem for the last week with Call Of Duty and Wolfeinstein.
Turned out i forgot about the Coolbits reg hack i installed to overclock my videocard. Once i slowed down the overclock the games played fine.

It says to put my -500 to min and -600max how do I do that? I went to the task manager and performance tab and I dont see how to set it? thanks
