Hello, I recently bought and built a new computer. I am using a e6750, but cpu-z tells me that it is only working at 2000 mhz. why might that be? thanks for the quick response.

Your cpu settings on your motherboard probably have a power saving option enable thats throttling the CPU back. If not, then maybe your multiplier or RAM speed is set too low.
