I recently bought a new computer for my home that had MS Vista Home Premium preinstalled on it. According to Magical Jelly Bean's Keyfinder the installed OS product key doesn't match the product key that is on the tag on the bottom of the notebook. Does this mean I could legally install Vista on another laptop using the key from the bottom? I know that I could technically do this, but I want to know whether this is legal or not.

No. Most likely, the key that your current install is using is a batch, VLK-like key that is used for their imaging of the systems. If you were to reinstall the OS from a standard disc, you'd have to use the key on the laptop. Since that is an OEM key, it couldn't legally be used on another system either.
