New Computer Problems

Hey all.

I recently went to my new system with an nForce2 chipset. Ever since I upgraded to it (only changed hardware is the mobo and cpu) I have had problems playing in Enemy Territory. I havent tried any other intense 3d games but the problems I get is this: Every 2 or 3 minutes I get a 3 second or so lockup. The game freezes, the sound loops, etc... Its not lag, its the actual computer locking up on me. It really ticks me off.

There are two things I can see being the problem: One, nForce2 drivers, and 2, I recently upgraded to the newest cat drivers. I am using an ATI card.

Can someone recommend a good nForce2 driver package, or tell me if I should go back to my previous stable cat drivers? I was last using the ATI drivers before they made all these major changes...4.8 or something cant remember. I can check when I get home if you need me to.

Thanks.

well, if i were you, i'd try rolling back to previous drivers and seeing if that fixes your problem.

RE: your sig
i've seen that before, was that really done, or just something someone thought up? kinda scary, since the first time i saw it i read it flawlessly

When you changed the MB did you do a fresh install of windows or did you just let it detect your new stuff. If you didn't format and stuff it could be confused by the old MB drivers. I know its a lot of work, but a format and re-install solves lots of problems.

^ Yes reformatting will help definatly as you are probably loading the wrong drivers upon startup. Reformat and use the new 4.1 Catalyst Drivers from the ATI site.

GL:D

P.S. Enemy Territory KICKS ASS!

Im not stupid enough to let windows even ATTEMPT to run without a fresh format :) Everything is fresh.

EDIT: Could a problem be because I didnt do Service Pack 1 before installing it? I had to install it first because otherwise my ethernet port dun work.

Yeah my box has all the latest updates. I did however install the nForce2 drivers BEFORE updating. Should I remove the drivers and reinstall them? The latest 3.13 drivers or the one my mobo came with?
