My new computer is having issues. I've had BSOD but the computer would instantly restart and I could not read the message. When I started the computer today I recieved another BSOD with the following "Memory_Management" 0X0000001A. In the past the computer played WoW with out any issues. The computer would freeze sometimes when I watched a movie. Windows gadget said the CPU was maxed at 100 percent

No over clocking.
Only BIOS change was quick boot.

Windows gadet would say CPU was locked at 100 percent likely because some app got stuff in an infinite loop, crashed, and was sitting there hogging it all doing nothing. Generally if you have a dual-cpu or more, only one core will get locked and your system is otherwise still functional.

But with an i5? that shouldn't really happen.

An i5 cpu, and a 4890 GPU that should have hardware acceleration for video. No video stream should run that to 100%. I'm thinking you have faulty hardware somewhere.

I'd start my troubleshooting with memory. Run memtest, 15 passes or so. If that works out, I'd follow to the graphics card, swap out for another and run some tests, HD video streams, games, etc.

When I'm under performance information and tools. I made an attempt to rate the computer system and could not get the program to work. It would fail when I was trying to rate the system. What could be the cause of this?

Menelmarar- I ran two passes and received 8 errors. Is this normal ?

You have bad memory modules. You should get ZERO errors. Corsair tech support in the past when I was debugging bad memory, recommended to run it over night, get at least 15 passes with no errors to be fairly satisfied of a stable system. and to eliminate memory as the culprit.

I've had systems where it can do 4-5 passes error free, and then get one, and it is still enough to render a system unusable.

When your system tries to address/write/read from those locations, it gets invalid/unexpected data and this causes BSODS. Developers can't take into account these kinds of errors. It's amazing you can even get into windows with that many errors.

So, RMA. If it's been within like 15-30 days, and you got the kit from newegg. It's probably fastest to RMA with them. Otherwise contact G.SKILL.

You have a 2x2GB kit I assume? So that your not crippled, you might run the test on one module, and then the other. Maybe only one is bad, if so, then you could limp along with one while you RMA the other. Assuming GSKILL doesn't want to replace the entire kit in whole.

I have not been able to do 15 passes just yet. I had to stop it earlier and use the computer to make a post :p.

When I was out for dinner, I got it to 4-5 passes with 17 errors .

Should ECC be on?

Cached Rsvd Mem Mem Map Cache ECC TEST Pass Errors ECC Errs
4092m 8k e820 on off STD 5 17 0

No need to run more passes if it already caught errors.

No, your sticks are not ECC sticks.

What voltage and timing were you using with the ripjaws? Go into your BIOS and try manually setting them to 9-9-9-24, 1.5v, at DDR3-1600, and re-run memtest overnight, or less if you get errors. If you still get errors with manually setting the voltage/timings, you'll definitely need an RMA. If not, then you don't really need to RMA. ;)

enginurd- I set the memory to profile1 which change it to be 1600 for me.
I received 1500 errors at 40 percent. Does that sound right?

However, stock is at 9-9-9-24 and 1.5v with 1333

So this is probably your kit right here?

Yea, you try running that at enginurd's settings, way out of manufacturer's specs, you're potentially going to have massive issues, especially with modules that already aren't working at stock speed, LOL.

You could try upping the voltage, by 5-10%, with stock speed and timings, that might make them stable, but you'd be running them out of spec and they still need to be replaced.

They should definitely be working 100%, no errors in memtest86 passes. Like I said, Corsair has often made the recommendation that you need about 15 passes with no errors to be confident that the modules are good.

Yours are NOT. RMA time, get on the horn with your retailer or G.Skill.

You could try lowering the timings even more, see if that stops the BSOD until you can get some new modules.

I am not getting a BSOD right now. Windows did this crazy repair and system recovery and blah blah blah. I am able to get on but the question is when will it happen again.

Your modules are bad, you have two choices.
1. RMA them.
2. Deal with an unstable system that could cause corrupt/loss data, BSOD's, and other general headaches.

Your choice.

Ok, so if you have the modules you listed in your OP, F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL, and you get errors in memtest at stock settings, then your sticks are bad. If you have the modules listed by Menelmarar, F3-10666CL9D-4GBRL, then yes, the settings I spec'd obviously won't work. When you ran memtest at stock speeds, did you set those settings manually? or did you leave it on AUTO and it chose those settings? If AUTO, try manually setting those timings and speed (9-9-9-24 1.5v DDR3-1333) and run memtest again. If you get errors, RMA the sticks.

enginurd- I had them on auto setting and did not adjust them and received the errors.

How would i manually adjust them? The only way I know how to adjust them was using the XMP Profile.

I got off the phone with newegg and the support was amazing!

I am going to purchase another set of sticks and will be sending these two back for a full refund!

Any suggestions on another pair or go with the same kind?

I typically look for Corsair, Crucial, Kingston. But there should be nothing wrong with gskill, a lot use them, and they should work at the advertised specs. I'd say you just got a DOA sample. I've gotten the same from other manufacturers. Seems to happen with memory fairly often for some reason.

Heh, I'd recommend the same kit. :p F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

If you'd like to try another brand, go for it. Just make sure its 1.5v for best compatibility. I like the G.Skill sticks because they're 1.5v AND DDR3-1600, since most 1600 kits are 1.65v, which is the max for the Intel memory controller (no headroom).

What is the difference between

F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ

and

F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

The NQ kit is rated for 1.5v - 1.6v, IIRC, while the Ripjaws (RL) are straight out 1.5v only. I'd go for the ripjaws I mentioned earlier, though I have both kits, lol. I bought the NQ before the RL.ripjaws were offered.

I will go with the Ripjaws then :)

Now would you say the DDR3 1333 or DDR3 1600?

Thanks!!!

enginurd- I do not plan on doing it any time soon.

However, I might do it later down the road , a year or two if a game comes out and I need to increase the performance.

DDR3-1600 will allow you to use the 8X DRAM Multiplier if you're aiming for a CPU speed of 4Ghz (20x CPU multiplier, 200Mhz base clock). Though, even with DDR3-1333, you can reach the same clock speed for the CPU, but use a lower DRAM mulitplier (6x).
