got my new computer up and running,

barton 2500
512 kingston hyperx pc3500
radeon 9800 pro
antec soho 1040bxii case w/ 400 watt psu
lite-on dvd
slk-900a

from my old system:
maxtor 80 gig
ibm deskstar 40 gig
cd-rw

haven't done any benches, not my thing, but so far its running fast and sweet, hopefully this thing will run stable enough for me to o/c in a week or so

ooooh a deathstar hard drive, gl with that

they have a habit of not being the most reliable hd on the planet

My 9500pro is running a hl2 beta and d3 demo smooth as hell. I you can afford 9800pro/xt go for it, if not, 9500pro and 9600xt are the next best thing. I dont plan on upgrading my video until 2nd gen pci express is out.. :)

yeah the 9800 pro is pretty exciting, i know i don't NEED it but i thought i'd go ahead and splurge, i can almost afford it

yeah the deskstar sits there waiting for me to ever need it, it came w/ my dell and i just use it to save a few convienent but unimportant files (old favorites, emails, documents) on it for when i reformat, but i have my 80 gig maxtor partitioned in two and i store my music, movies and porn on the maxtor

Nice system, which motherboard are you running?

Welcome to 2002. During this year of our Lord 2002 IBM releases a firmware update for the 70/60GXP series of drives which solves the reliability problem. You can now clock out of the Deathstarz sux0rs bandwagon and go home now. We'll fastforward you to 2004 with the rest of the world now.

my computer is 2k1 40 gig so...

anyhow i'm sporting the nf7-s mobo, pretty awesome

I like a man who can admit he surfs the pr0n.

Best wishes with the new box. I know not many people get excited about it, but Lite-on makes one hell of a nice drive. Good choice

link? proof?

I noticed you mentioned stability. Make sure to run Prime95 and memtest86 for a while to make sure it is running stable. Prime95 will also run your temps up so you'll see how the system will handle running hot.

how do i check the cpu temp from windows? do i have to download software or does it come w/ the mobo software?

Tell that to my deathstar that was updated and died 3 months ago(this was the second time, first time was 1.5 years ago). Thankfully Hitachi was kind enough to give me a new one but I still lost some semi-important stuff

Another 2500 with a 9800pro, zzzz so many of those popping up on here these days. Good choice on the antec case, I like your ram too ;)
