I am rebuilding my computer because it is not as nice as I wanted it to be.
Current specs are
Motherboard - P4P800 (regular)
CPU - Pentium 4 2.6c at 3.1 on air
Video Card - Radeon 9600
Memory - 2 x 256, 2 x 512 of pc3200 (ocz and corsiar) works fine together
HD - Maxtor 160GB (133 with ATA adapter)
PSU - Thermaltake 480W Xaser Silent Purepower
Case - Enermax Mid-Tower ATX Case with Clear Window
TV Tuner - TV Leadtek/Deluxe TV2000XP
Sound Card - Santa Cruz Turtle Beach
The speed is alright and everything, but there is a sound issue with it. I bought a sound card to try to remedy the situation, but it still skips sometimes. I believe it is a motherboard problem and am willing to scrap it all and start over if needed.
What I am leaning towards is a Socket T setup. I have heard some good stories with overclocking and such and I might as well get my system up to compatibility with the newer technology coming out (DDR2, pci-x, etc.)
I was thinking about the following, please critique:
Motherboard - Asus P5WD2 Preimium Socket T
CPU - Intel Pentium 4 630 Prescott LGA 775
Memory - OCZ 2x 512MB 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC6400) <--I don't know if this is overkill or what.
Video Card - Decent, but pci-x compatible. Not top of the line please
As for the rest, I may keep my remaining items or get new, more compatible stuff and sell my old. Any recommendations on making this setup successful would be grately appreciated.
