What settings are you trying to run at? Have you tried changing anything to improve performance? Try reducing all settings to minimum and see how your performance is. If the gameplay becomes smooth, then you've been using overly high graphical settings and you just need to turn them down from what you were previously running at. If your performance doesn't improve even with all the graphical settings at their lowest, then you've probably got a CPU limitation (although your CPU should be fast enough to handle CoD4 fine).

a 3450 is HORRIFIC for gaming and is barely a step up from integrated video. in fact a 3450 wont even meet the minimum requirements for many newer games.

Laptop and gaming in the same sentence doesnt go well together.

Unless you paid $2500 for it, or its an alienware.

yeah the 3450 is basicly on par with the intel 945 chipset/igp.. maybe just a tad better.. if you had gotten the one with the hd 3650.. then you would of had a better chance of playing cod4 @ low settings..

the 3650 would have no prob with med and maybe even a few high settings at 1280 or lower. the 3450 is less than half as powerful as the 3650 so low settings for sure with it.

I was going to say, looks like a laptop.

That's a pretty poop comp for gaming unless at say 800x600 res and all low settings in call of duty 4.

Call of Duty 4 being my reference.

Now my laptop in my signature can DO gaming. :)

Funny, got a $450 MSI GX610 on eBay BNIB with a TL-62 2.1ghz dual core, 2gb ram and HD2600 with 256mb dedicated GDDR3 and it sems to have no issues @ 1280x800 in CoD4 on high. So you're wrong on the price point and Alienware has always been overpriced stuff meant for people with no concept of what a good PC at the right price is.

Try turning the video settings down, then lower the resolution if it's still too sluggish.

COD4 scales well, I think it should be able to run at decent frame rates even with that GPU.
