New Computer Boot Up Problem

So I'm building a new computer. Specs are:

Abit KV8-Max3 Mobo
Athlon 64 3200+
Asus Radeon 9800xt
2x512mb sticks of Geil pc3200 ram
1x200gig western digital hd

I think that's pretty much all you need to know.

The problem is that when I boot up, depending on the bios settings, it either gets to "verifying DMI Pool data..." and stops/freezes. OR it gets to "boot from CD" and stops/freezes.

So if anyone has any ideas, let me know.

Check the jumpers on your IDE drives, make sure everything is seated properly, swap memory, check for BIOS updates, etc etc etc.
