Ok here it goes.....

I was going to buy a M6 from ABSPC but..its a bit pricey and it doesnt even come with a monitor.....SO i think i have decided on building my own, this is what i have so far and opinions or suggestions would be helpful..thx!

CPU:
I have been waiting for the AMD64 line for a while now so deff going with that. I am thinking the new 3400+ one instead of the fx. I found one on NEwegg for 400 bucks but if anyone knows of a bundle with a motherboard that would be better.

MotherBoard:
MOTHERBOARD

Montior:
NEC/Mitsubishi FE991SB-BK 19" superBright
Montior

Hard Drive:
Western Digital 160g SATA(should i go sata, IDE or what?)
HD

Sound Card:
Creative Labs SOund Blaster AUdigy 2 PCI zs
sb

CASE:
I think this case looks real nice, anyone have one?
Antec Perfoce PLUSVIEW LE
case

PS(if i get that case):
430 Antec
PS

Real tricky part now....

I have no clue what ram to get....ddr but what company?

I obviously want a kick ass video card...but i hear a rumor that the next gen will be coming out in acouple of months.. Should i just hold out a few and plug a new video card in later, while just using a old one. If i didnt wait, i would go for the 9800XT.

Thats what i have so far, whta do you think of the prices/parts. Thx! ALL coments welcome.

For RAM, I'd go with a gig of Corsair XMS or Kingston HyperX. Are you planning to overclock at all?

If you aren't planning on getting any games that are going to over tax your current video card until the new generation of VPUs is released, then waiting is certainly a viable option. There's no sense in buying something that you're not going to take full advantage of until there's something better out. It depends on what card you have currently.

well its a geforce2 in this one...but my brother just got a new comp so he got rid of his old one which has a better vid card then this one. I dont know what kind or what it is but i think its a bit better.

this computer is ment for gaming...its my gaming dream computer and my cost limit is 2.2k....so any upgrades up to that point i can go for.

seeing that i want this to last as long as it can and kick ass the new vid cards seem like the best option seeing how long th e9800 have been around.

If you live in CO I could give you hand. But for memory, I'm not sure because I just took a quick looksie at the mobo but I plan on get two sticks of Corsair, they have some room to OC with my 2500 Barton.

I would wait for the new GPUs, with a PC of that caliber you deserve to get a Kick ASS card.
--EDIT--
Nvidia is suppose to release a Sound card based on Soundstorm about the sametime that the new GPUs come out, as for IDE vs. SATA, SATA gives you a little more speed then IDE. I would go for it though just because of the benefits of a thinner cable.

As far as the MB bundles, most if not all do not use Artic Silver paste or ceramique, so you may want to just put the CPU/HS/fan in yourself. If you're not overclocking the CPU/FSB/RAM, then just get Crucial and you can't go wrong.

I dont plan on over clocking..but i reallly never have so you never know.

the bundle would just be nice beucase the only thing i havent put together is the CPU and the motherboard....

so going with the corsair then?

I am reading the article but its very confusing to me lol. I am computer savy but i am not THAT deep into things.

Sooo they are releasing a new mobo for the amd64 processors in acouple o fweeks? but then there gonna switch the pin size totally in a few months?

Now i need to figure out the mobo the vid an dthe memory lol

If all you've got is GeForce2, you'll definately want to upgrade. If you still want to get one of the new top of the line cards coming out in a few months, it might be worth getting a 9600XT to tide you over until then.

hmm isnt at 9600 a bit much just to have for a few months? how much would one of those cost?

My current system by the way is...

1.4p
40gighd
512ram
geforce2mx
pretty sad really

lol
Around the next four months or so, the board you picked is from VIA so you are good to go. It looks like they're going to be holding onto the 754, adding a 939, and dropping the 940. The 939 looks to become the euthusist CPU with the 754 becoming the Athlon XP replacment. But it's interesting to see that the nForce3 250 has a FSB of 1ghz while the 754 proc is at 800mhz. Stick with the MX for a few months, that is if you can hold back from gaming.:D We're so close to new GPUs that it would be a waste to spent $160 or more on a 9600XT. I figure that you're going to be taking alittle time to research and build this PC right?

As mentioned earlier, nForce3 250 will also debut in Socket 939 with AMD's new FX chips in April. Interestingly enough, shared manufacturer roadmaps did not contain Socket 940 versions of the nForce 250 chipset. Before the launch of the lower priced Athlon 64's, many vendors questioned importance of Socket 754. With the A64 3000+ retailing just over $200 and the A64 3200+ now under $300, Socket 754 is again a hot topic.
The importance of nForce3 250 will be its introduction of 1GHz HyperTransport. While 1GHz HT may not appear on Socket 754 boards in the near future, it will become important on Socket 939 motherboards. Déjà vu is a common side effect of the nForce3 250 launch. With nForce3 250 capable of 1GHz HT, how long will it be before enthusiasts find ways to unlock this capability on Socket 754? Is history repeating itself? (Think nForce2/nForce2 Ultra/400).

sooo in recap....

not worth it to wait for the nwe mobo, the one picked out is fine for the 64bit? i hate buying stuff when something big is around the corner hense me taking forever to buy a comp lol.

Firsts its one thng...then its another...then its another...computers upgrade to fast lol

:) Only if you want to OC.

Well I would point out that nvidia has a nice utility that lets you OC the mobo like you do with Coolbits (for nvidia GPUs), called forceware. If you want to get into OCing it might be prudent to wait for some reviews to come out on the nForce3 250. Other then that the Asus board is just awesome (from what I hear)! Go buy now! lol:)

lol its a lot of money to "go buy now" i like to do my research and make sure i am getting EXACTLy whats right for the job.

Thx for the reviews i read all of them lol.

i think i might just stick with the ASUS then and the 3400+...still waiting for the new video cards i am thinking...

Any other suggestions? wait for newer systems?
