I have been planning on purchasing a new pc. With the release of Everquest 2, World of Warcraft, and Half-Life 2 coming up I think its time to retire my AMD 2000+ and Geforce 4.

Here is my first wish list. I would like to get the price down to around the $1500 area. I have heard from different forums EQ2 works CPU/Memory/Vid Card hard during game play and hard drive speed helps zone times. I don’t really plan on overclocking but I happen to have a very warm room so some nice cooling helps in the summer months.

What would you guys suggest on my list below =)

Very nice system, but a couple of things:

How about going to an Athlon64? Like a 3200+ or so, you'll be future proof as well as making a good combp in terms of performance with the 6800.

And try for and ASUS or Abit mobe. They are awsome.

Apart from that, its a pretty damn good system. Would do me fine...

personally i prefer the 1GB ddr400 patriot LL (2-3-2-5) for $160 at frysoupost and i do own 1gb of ddr400 corsair value select :) if you dont trust outpost.com, newegg.com does have it for $190...

o and i would get the 3200+ a64 winchester as it is $75 cheaper for a 200mhz difference and if you want to OC im sure the 3200+ a64winchester can reach 2.4ghz if not im gonna be disappointed cause i just ordered one this weekend :D

also if raid 1 is not that important to you, you could snag some 160gb pata wdc drives for around $60 after rebates.. just a thought :)

n/m my cpu suggestion, i just noticed you dont plan on overclocking, so the 3500+ would serve you best but be sure to consider my ram recommendation and hard drive recommendation if data redundency isnt important to you (perhaps u meant raid0 for performance? if thats the case those sata drives arent too bad.)
