Well I built a comp for my parents and I wanted to test it out to make sure i got everything all set up and make sure it was running fast and all, so I put on 3D Mark 2001. I got about 12.5k 3D Marks in it. Here are the comp specs:

AMD XP 2700+ Processor
ECS K7VTA3 Motherboard
512MB PC2700 Ram
PNY 6600GT Video Card
80GB Seagate Hard Drive
430 Watt Antec Powersupply

Those are the basic specs of the comp. I already searched through some of the 3d mark website trying ot find what other people are getting, but what i see is like 20k and stuff so I am thinking mine might be too low. Thank you.

Check if your memory is synced with your FSB in bios (it will probably be labeled as "100%" ). Other than that, I can't really guess why you'd be getting such a low score (my 8500 got 11.5k in 2k1). Run 2k3 as it is MUCH more GPU dependent, and tell us what score you get. You should be low to mid 8,000 I believe.

Ease up on the AA/AF?

Reinstall motherboard drivers and gpu drivers.

6600GT "sux" in 3Dmark01. Just try 03 and 05 damn it, 01 is VERY VERY CPU depended, and its NOT GPU so much depended.

SlasherDNA, reread that post. In case you didn't notice, that's a pretty low score for that CPU...

Anyway, Avengeance, forgive me for asking this basic question, but, you are 100% certain vsync is completely off? The drivers like to limit how much they render ahead as well. Best I could think to do with that was set to the highest setting (255.)

Like they said, run 3DMark03. That will give us a better idea as to what area to look at as a possible cause for this. I especially agree with checking for the CPU/memory ratio. I had horrible problems with jumpiness keeping my average framerates in things like Doom 3 painfully low back when I used 3:2 to get my cpu up to 2.5GHz.

2K1 has always been more score responsive to high FSB/RAM bus settings, so without an o/c via FSB/RAM speed increases, don't expect much, but as the others have noted.

1. Make sure AA/AF, and VSync are off.
2. Turn all other IQ settings down to lowest level.
3. Kill any TSR's and unnecessary services before starting your run.
4. The standard resolution for 2K1 is 1024x768, and that is what posted scores are usually based on, so make sure your res isn't set higher than that.

I dont know. I got 14500 marks in 01 with: AXP2500+ @ 3200+ (200x11), 512MB DDR Kingston 333@400MHz, and a 9800Pro. Imo he doesnt have FSB:RAM 1:1

But, I repeat myself, dont knock your head off cos of THIS! As long games run properly, benchmarks should be your LAST concerne.
