Looked at apples website. The cinema display appears to be compatible with their notebooks. What if I wanted to hook them up to a mac pro. Though, I have a feeling theres an adapter for this.

Yes, of course you can use an Apple display with an Apple computer.

As of right now they haven't shown off a dvi to display port adapter to hook the new screens up to a current mac pro. I would expect it when the display starts to ship though. If not we will see mac pro video cards with a display port that will allow it to work.

Word on Ars is that they only work with the new Macbook, Macbook Pro, and Air. They will presumably work with the next iMacs and Mac Pros if they also incorporate the new display adapter. I'm certain the next iMacs will have it since they can just replace its mini-DVI port. The Mac Pros I'm not so sure about, not unless the PCI-E video cards it comes with also has that output.

I could go on a rant but whatever, no comment. It isn't like this is the first time Apple has quickly and brutally moved their product line onto their next big thing by hacking off a previous standard.
