I finally found out what the hottest part of my computer is: My DS3's passive HSF. Any suggestions for something to replace it? I'd perfer something with an actual fan, and not terribly expensive.

My solution cost only $3

Originally I wanted to get a real heatsink with fan. but my concern was cost and installation. My CPU cooler, Freezer Pro 7, is sitting on the CPU and over the NB a bit.

I then decided to put a 40mm fan on the top of the stock heatsink and tie it with small copper wire. The temp was reducded from hot to touch to warm to touch, by 6 degree C.

Problem solved.

I was thinking of this one, but will it cool well? The fins are thin enough, and I think the fan will help.

Yuch, active cooling? No more fans! Look to Zalman they have a very effective new passive heat sink or some of the suggestions above. Also I think I almost pulled the trigger on a HR-something or another, i think by thermaltake but I can't rmemeber now.

I'm thinking about doing this as well....

The Force Take is IMO the best.
Followed by the ThermalTake HR-05-SLI.
Then the Zalman NB47j

The Zalman, however is what I'm using and it works perfectly. Keeps my system temp under 35'c.
