New Case - Must Be Quiet!

Time to get a new case, my current one is just to loud, and doesnt represent what I like anymore.

Here's what I'm looking for:

Under $150 (this does not include shipping, but cheaper is better, but quality is more important).

Must be quiet!

Must have 120mm or larger support, at least 2, more is better.

A window is nice, but not a must. I'm also interested in the mesh side panals like those on the Gigabyte 3D Aurora or Thermaltake Shark.

I do not need a powersupply included, if one is then I'll probably not use it unless its somehow better than my Antec TruePower 480.

Tooless is nice, but it has to be a good tooless design, things like Thermaltake's PCI bracket SUCK, plastic is bad when it comes to this area, but again tooless would be nice.

A door is not a must, but would be nice to have if done right.

I'm currently looking at the Gigabyte 3D Aurora and the Aerocool ExtremeEngine 3T. But I'm very open to other options. The Aurora is my favorite out of the two if you want a idea of what I like, but both are good looking cases, IMO.

Looking forward to some suggestions!
 
gotta say p180 4 120mm fans almost silent @ full speed nock it down to medium or low and it is silent

I dont like the looks of the P180 at all. To me it looks very low quality, though this may not be case (ha!).

As for the P150, I'll look into it. It looks much better than the P180, IMO.
 
Get the Lian li PC75 - plenty of room for fans and is great fun to mod at the same time. Its actually designed for a server as its a server case so plenty of cooling is gone into it.

Not only does it look low quality but it is. Unfortuantely it's a very quiet case that looks good so you're stuck taking the good with the bad.
 
Yeah, I saw one at my local PC shop... I expected it to have much thicker side pieces, and lots less plastic. In pics it looks alright, but in person I was extremely dissapointed.
 
I just got an Antec 180 and I am very impressed with it. It is heavy though so dont expect to move it around a lot. I really like how everything was put together and it is quite, but my cpu coolers are driving me nuts.

If you dont like the looks that is a different story, but the case it nice.
 
Cooler Master Stacker 810. Very nice case, I have one. Room inside for anything you need. VERY solid, heavy, big, and easy to work in.

You might also want to look into the cheap Lian Li's, SilverStone's, and Antec's.

Newegg has the best selection of cases I'v seen. Best look there.
 
I hear the enormous fan on the Aero Engine sounds like an... Engine on higher speeds. Not a wind noise or anything, more of a motor grind...

This seems the opposite of what I've been reading. I've been reading into the ExtremeEngine and all things I've seen that it is very quite. The only issue that people are having is mis connecting the fan controllers or having hard drive line up issues, but that HD issue is solved by using these special brackets that come with the case, I've contacted Newegg about this and they said they would include them with the case if I bought it from them.
 
I just got a P180 last week and it's super quiet. Pain in the ass to work with....but quiet :rolleyes: :)

Pain in the ass is the truth. Mine is a total mess inside and I tried to sort the cables the best I could too.

the spiral galaxies is extremely ez to deal with. everything pops in and comes out just the same :) tonsssssssss of room!!! looks even sicker when i have the wind-tunnel on it :)

Just did a build with the P180, and I was absolutely astounded how quiet it is. Great quiet case.
 
Well the ordering is done, and I went with the.............. Aerocool ExtremeEngine 3T!

There were a few things that made me go with the ExtremeEngine. These include: no window, two very large fans, fan controller, semi open door, mid tower size.

As the thread title hinted to, this wasnt just a quest for a new case, I was going for silence (or at least more silent than my current system). In order to reach my goal I ordered some other things. I also picked up the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro, Zalman VF700, and a Yat Loon 120mm fan.

I'll make sure to post some pics up for everyone once I get the system built. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

The only bad thing I've read about it is that the HD's need a special rail in order to fit, I double checked with Newegg that these were indeed included with the case before ordering. So I'm not worried here.

Other than that, its a case. There might a few sharp edges here or there, but that's fine with me, I can simple people rubber over those anyway.

To me, its went like this: They either had bad luck with the case, or it was really nice to them. We'll see how it goes, I'll sure to let you guys know!
 
If you could get by with a MicroATX motherboard, I'd look at the Silverstone J108. Awesome case, Ill be using it for my backup PC along with a 6150 based mATX board.

They may have a full ATX version, I dont know the part # though.

For ALOT of room, I like the Compucase CF1009, very good layout, excellent quality, all aluminum.
