I have this 20gb nomad zen jukebox that is pretty much shot. it just died after a year or 2 of use, but i paid 250 dollars for the thing and i'd like to get some use out of it. it will still play songs fine, but i cannot get the computer to fully recognize it with a usb cable, it can tell that something is there, but it can't transfer data to it at all. lots of times when i push buttons on the sides of the player, to skip track, play, pause, etc. it will do the function of a different button for a few presses and then do what it is supposed to do. usually if i push the enter button to go into a menu or something, it will function like the play/pause button the first two times i push it, and then it will do the enter button function, stuff like that makes it pretty much un-usable.
what i would like to do is make a new case for it, or leave it out of the case, leave it in the case, whatever, but just make it work. If it can be a removable hard drive without the mp3 player function, that's fine. if i can set it up in a little box and leave it on top of my stereo as a jukebox, that's great, something. so what do you guys think might be causing it to not be recognized by the computer, why are my buttons going haywire, and what can i do to fix it?
