Over the summer I plan to get a new camera and I've basically been putting it off since the S3 IS came out and now its been over a year (I think?) since it came out and I was just wondering if there were any cameras coming out soonish/over summer that might be a better option than the S3 IS?

I'm mainly looking for a camera with good optical zoom and image stabilization. And I've only ever heard/read good things about the S3 so thats another factor that made me want one.

DSLR is the shiznit, fo' real. If you're serious about photography, I'd recomend getting one as soon as possible. If you're dead serious about a compact camera, how about the Olympus SP-550 UltraZoom? It's got 18x zoom, and image stabilization.

S3IS is a good camera if you arent wanting to go Dslr. Everyone I have suggested it to loves it.

I have an S3 and I love it. It does really well with automatic settings while you're learning your way around the manual settings.

i have the S3 IS. It is a great camera. But if you can afford it, the investment into a DSLR is so worth it.
