Got a new camera for Christmas. Its is an Olympus Evolt E-500. I am just starting to play with it and see what it can do, so I will throw some pictures up here. I have taken 300+ pictures since monday, so this is just the highlights. I am going to try to head up into the mountains tomorrow and take some more pictures.

Here is the camera (this pic taken with a Sony DSC-P71)

And here are some pics with the new camera. So far I love this camera.

I will post more as I get more decent shots.

(pics will be up shortly, server issues)

Wow it looks like I could reach out and touch the fish, and the photo of the christmas ball is very cool. I like the shot of the dog the best.

Thanks!

And of course, I forgot to post the earlier referenced Grand Mesa pictures, so here they are:

First shot is a couple of wild turkeys on a fence next to someone's house. These guys are everywhere this time of year. Some of them were even standing in the road and would not move out of the way.

Quick scenery shot on the way up.

Doe next to the road.

Closer shot of doe.

We decided to drive up the mesa a little ways and get some more scenery shots.

More scenery. Huge aspen grove in winter.

lackbird. I was trying to see how the rapid-shoot mode worked and how clear I could get a shot. Not bad, but I have a lot to learn on the new camera.
mesa09.jpg

My favorite bird shot.

Another bird shot. I love the contrast and the color of the sky here.

The road up.

Another shot of Aspen, I think I like the other one better.

It is hard to get an idea of the scope of this mesa, but this helps.

A little hill near the road.

Sun is starting to set, we are wrapping up.
mesa17.jpg

A little more scenery.
mesa18.jpg

The color of the sun going down on the mesa.
mesa19.jpg

Another small herd of deer.
mesa20.jpg

Some more scenery. Sun is still dropping.

Saw this guy as we were heading down to go home. Had to stop and see if we could get him to pose for us. Pic is not quite as sharp as I would like because of low light. I have a lot to learn about this camera still.

Oh, one more that my wife caught with the new camera. Drove into another flock of turkeys the other day. She caught this one flying over the back of the car.

Well the deer and, turkey from your area cooperate more than ours do.

Great shots it is not a suprise that the deer play nicer they are not used to humans so they are not so afraid. Keep it up.
