i will be picking up a new camera this week - the 300D.
as far as lenses go this is what i will have.
canon 18-55 kit lens
canon 50mm f1.8

those will be the 2 lenses i play with for a bit.

as of right now my plans will be to purchase a
canon 24-85mm
sigma 70-300mm

taken into consideration is COST.

the sigma seems like a decent telephoto lens for the price u pay($230CDN).

any other suggestions on lenses to purchase in the future, in terms of cost/quality...

The Canon 28-135 IS is a decent lens and has image stabilization which may help your low light shots...

Sounds good to me so far, I have the 300D, kit lens, and 50 f1.8 II.

i took the 28-135 into consideration as well, but i figured
18-55
24-85
70-300

was a nice range of lenses, with decent overlap.

i jsut dont know if i should buy the 24-85($4XXCDN) or 70-300($230CDN) first.

The kit and the 50mm are a great pair to start with.

I don't know about the 24-85, that seems like too much overlap for a lens that doesn't have any "special features" ie. (L, IS etc.)

So far I own the 10D, the 17-40L, 50 1.8, and 70-200 2.8L IS and the 70-200 is one of my favorites to use. So..

In my opinion I would ditch the 24-85 and 70-300 and get the 70-200 f4 L, its not all that expensive and you will absolutely love it for its sharpness, colors, and contrast.
