Hi new to the forums. Yes i have mediacomcable as my provider and yeah i'm getting into networking pretty heavy with the cable modems/hardware...My hitron xstream self kit modem decide to fail on me..so I got another new install going on with the Tinno modem, pretty cool to check out. It's performing flawlessly and connects in like 5 minutes. I think the Arris surfboard works too or a netgear cm2500. my netgear cm1000 does not work though and is discontinued but i still have it...just to say and cool upgrade tech days i was down for two weeks without signal loss at my pole box figures. I am on some splitters by the way. Not exactly retail modems they are kinda more Carrier ISP modems. and yeah brand new patch and 6ft network cables..so it looks cool and like a new install.

ime, not common at all. The only tiime I saw modems fail is when they were in a utility chase with no airflow where the ambient temperature was 120F in the summer. And then it still took them several years before they kept failing. These were SMC business class modems back in the 2000s. I have not seen a modem failure at any of the isp accounts I manage since then.

not very, usually its a bad cable or splitters...
 
and lighning storms.

I have seen some signals coming in that was to hot and we put a 3.5 splitter on the by the modem to bring the downstream power lever closer to 0 (+15 to -15 is the range) 0 is perfect.
If the upstream power lever gets above 60 it makes the modem restart being to hot on power levels, best range is in the 30's low 40's.

yeah storms are bad, i did have like a weeks worth of afternoon storms. but i am on old splitters too. but this new tinno is hanging in there i guess. can't find out much about the unit, its pretty new i guess.

Are you calling up Mediacom and giving them the MAC address of the new modem each time you switch it out? Only asking because obviously these modems are not just plug-and-play. The Modem from your office might have worked without calling if the MAC was still registered to an account there, but that would be kind of shady.
 
The modem MAC has to be on your account to be provisioned, so the CMTS allows you on the network.
 
It looks like they only have two approved modems for their Hi-split DOCSIS 3.1 implementation. If you're going to provide your own equipment, I'd probably stick with one the two on their validated list:

I'm guessing the Netgear CM1000 ended up at Goodwill because it's no longer supported by your local ISPs, I'd go get your $6 back.

I had 2 develop issues in the past 25 years, but they didn't just die, they had speed issues and were intermittent. One was a Motorola/Arris that I bought and one was a Panorama unit supplied by Cox.
 
they registered the Tinno modem at the office like suppose to and it is a carrier/supplied modem. but it's kinda bad the eero/wifi adapter app is on an old email that i can't change or the password or i loose networking to resign up with eero app for the Xumo/T.v/box, they tied it to email and i forgot.... I'm out in the country a bit so i won't risk it redoing the eero app. I need a really long network cable could probaly watch t.v. could try that...hell i'll just stream t.v. It's still Xstream i guess but with just a different assigned up to date modem. And i'm having problems with my 10year old msi x470 board powering on not seeing the signal like bad board..thinking about moving the dimm and the 2600x to the esports b450m and watch it boot right up.

But yeah up in ESO and its large player base still and ranked highly with mmorpg. The 2600x and the Scythe breezes through most of it, some lag in populated areas but not much probably gpu...i haven't thought about upgrading AM5 yet..but like an AM5 board combo is like still $350-$400..it does mostly ok in mmorpg's and FPS.
