Foxconn 945GZ (basically a VRM updated 945G chipset)

No manual available on the website yet, but if you check the foxconn 945G board's manual you will see FSB and voltage adjustments, as well as mem timings etc.

Notables:
4 SATA
RAID
3-Phase VRM
8-PIN EPS (Gives some suggestion to how new the VRM system is)

Anyone wanna try?
 
8-pin EPS12V on one of these? Interesting! I wonder how much vdimm it'll give you.


edit:
NOTE: Intel's website for the 945GZ chipset does NOT list support for Core 2 Duo processors. That means Intel has not validated C2D processors with this chipset. Their website and docs state that the 945GZ supports a max FSB of 800MHz. AT THIS TIME (August 2006) there are no C2D with an 800MHz FSB (all have a 1066MHz FSB). Conclusion - pay VERY close attention to our "CPU Compatibility" listing. Plan, buy, and build accordingly.

I've only seen the 945s do about 300fsb. I don't think the chip has enough in it…

Looks like Foxconn made this one more colorfully neon. That must be the new sign to appeal to those gen Y, E-trippin', overclockin' teens! :rolleyes: Who needs to look at the manual? You just go by the amount of neon! This falls in between a Biostar TForce and an MSI Neo-F so it probably has better than average overclocking. ;)

Definately with ya on this one. There are always bumps along the way when new tech comes out, but we've been waiting way to long for good boards, considering the performance potential in C2D.
 
This board does have a good layout.

I mean 2 usable PCI slots even with a dual slot cooler for the PCI-e16x slot. Might make a nice little lan machine. Wish it had a gigabit NIC though.
 
It was looking good until I saw the DDR533 support on the memory. Yep, definitely meant for the E4300 and such.
