I have my parts coming tomorrow:

E8400
ASUS P5Q Pro
Corsair DHX 2x1GB DDR800
Visiontek 4850
Antec Three Hundred Case

and I'll pop in my old Netgear 802.11n PCI card and my three week old Western Digital WD6400AAKS and SAMSUNG SATA DVD-RW

I have a brand new Antec Earthwatts 380 PSU that I bought for the rig in my sig (hah, that rhymes) a couple weeks back that I want to use for this build (very tight budget). I don't plan on overclocking until the rig gets a bit dated. I plan on doing some 1680x1050 gaming and web surfing on XP SP2 32bit.

I could use some reassurance that the Antec PSU will handle the above. My hardware choices are a result of all the great advice I have gotten [H]ere, Thanks!

I will post pics hopefully this Friday if you guys care to see.

It'll handle it but very it'll be tight. Don't add more hard drives.

Thanks Danny. I may have to go out and get one with more power. I'd hate to have it die on me and take some parts with it.

I knew I should have sprung for at least the Corsair VX450 to begin with. *smacks self*

Your PC will probably use somewhere in the range of 230-250W tops under load, so you'll be fine, even with an extra HD or two. I'd still recommend something better when you have the cash though, just to be on the safe side.

Keep us posted, I'm interested to see if a 380W can easily handle that computer..

I sure will. I got all the parts in from Newegg this mornin' before I went to work. I just have to stop by Best Buy tonight to pick up a Visiontek 4850 (I'll do a price match next week if it goes down.)

People are reporting wrong cards in those boxes.. after you pay for it.. open it up with a cashier there to check.. There's a thread on this forum talking about this.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. Do you have link?

In the words of a wise man by the name of Borat, "Great Success!"

So far so good. I'll post pics tomorrow.

Dennisjai, I took your advice and opened the card in the store. Everything looked fine and it doesn't have the Mass Effect graphics all over it. Looks completely reference.

Here are the pics as promised. Everything seems to be running cool. Actually much cooler than expected thanks to the Antec Three Hundred. $48 well spent. The top of the psu gets barely warm to the touch under load in 3DMark 06. I did the best I could with cable management. Nothing fancy, but the wires are tucked away and I sleeved the front panel connectors for the power switch and leds.

Thank you for the advice and the compliment.

I'm loving it. My cpu is idling at 24C where my old rig would idle at 37C. I manually set the fan speed to 60% on the 4850 and that idles at 44C. I couldn't be happier.
