What do you guys think? Computer will be used for moderate gaming and multimedia. I already have a monitor, DVD burner, and extra HDs for storage. Not interested in SLi, but would like wireless to be on the mobo. Anything I can swap out for either better performance or better value?

Also, should i replace the P5B-Dlx with a P5K-Dlx? What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Generally Raptors are a waste of money for the small amount of speed increase you get.

really? ive used them ever since the 36gb raptor came out and they feel a lot faster than other drives. never benchmarked them though, so it could just be psychological.

any suggestions for my cpu heatsink and case fans? i want very good cooling obviously but i also want quiet. is my current proposed setup adaquate?

Don't use a Yate Loon on the top blowhole. Since its sleeve bearing, I hear it has problems and dies faster due to its lateral mount. If you want good fans and don't care about the price, the Scythe S-Flex fans are good. If you want a 38mm x 120mm, check out the Panaflo hydrowave bearing fan. Yate loons are great for a cheap solution, but are sleeve bearing (quiet, but short lifespan).

I'd go for the Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B instead of the Katana.

I'd also go for a cheaper board and a PCI or USB WiFi card instead of an onboard WiFi. Thats a hefty price premium for onboard wifi, lol.

Wasn't the P180B on sale for $50AR somewhere?

was it? the p180b for 50$ is a sick price.

what motherboard would u recommend instead of the asus?

I heard this too but that didn't stop me from mounting mine horizontally inside my PSU. Two years later and it's still as quiet as ever, no problems.

If you want to use the Yate Loon, go ahead. By the time the sleeve bearings wear out you'll have replaced the whole computer anyway.

Yah, it was at Fry's... dead now.

P5B-E, P5B Plus, P5N-E SLI, P5K, 965P-S3, 965P-DS3, P35-DS3R, eVGA 650i Ultra, P6N SLI-FI... take your pick.
