I just upgraded my system to the following:
Gigabyte ga b85-hd3
I5 4670k
1x8gb crucial ballistix sport vlp
600w ocz

I got everything together in my case, but when it powers up, it won't post at all. The fans and such run. I get no beeps, with or without the ram. I read that no beeps/silence could indicate faulty ram. I tested the power supply and the voltages are all fine. The crucial website said the ram is compatible with the mobo, so I'm really stumped. Would appreciate help asap

Is the clear CMOS jumper in the right place?
Just because the voltages check out okay does not mean the PSU is good. I would try a different PSU if you could, one that is known to work. PSU might work while not under any load, but as soon as it gets a load it might fail.

Also a single 8GB stick of RAM will work fine in that system.
