I haven't decided on the OS just yet. I know I want 64-bit, but should I go ahead and purchase Vista Ultimate 64-bit or just use Win7 RC1 (are there enough drivers for Win7 yet?)? I am a gamer but mainly I am a HD video editing guru with Sony Vegas Pro 8.0c.

Anything you would change/add? Should I go with a faster HD or get another 1TB drive and raid it (for perfomance in Sony Vegas Pro 8.0c)

Use the Windows 7 RC for now.

If you can afford one, an SSD would make an excellent OS drive.

Everything else looks fine. Don't forget to upgrade the BIOS before you put in the new processor.

Neither, in my opinion.

Even though the VelociRaptor is faster than the Caviar Black 1TB drive, I don't believe that the VelociRaptor's performance increase would be noticeable compared to that of an SSD. Plus, the VelociRaptor runs hotter and louder under load than the Caviar Black HDD, which may or may not be a deal-breaker for you.

RAID 0 does speed things up, but you also run the risk of losing everything should one of the drives fail. RAID isn't a back-up solution -- additionally, RAID 0, unlike the other levels, doesn't guarantee the uptime of the RAID configuration -- and 2TB is a lot of data to potentially lose.

I recommend that you get a second hard drive to use as an OS drive. The WD6401AALS is slightly faster than its 1TB sibling and it costs a bit less. If you could afford to, I'd recommend either one 60GB SSD or two 30GB SSDs in a RAID 0 setup. OCZ Vertex and G.Skill Falcon are two good brands to look at among SSDs.

Will, you be o/c your cpu? A fast cpu would help in video editing. If you are going to O/C consider this CPU/VIDEO CARD combo

AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0GHZ Deneb + Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB both for $345 ($10 MIR on video card)

If not O/C the cpu, look at this combo

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHZ Deneb + Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB both for $395 ($10 MIR on video card)

Also, look at purchasing the Antec EA650 at ZipZoom for $78.50 w/free shipping

What about putting one of these in my machine as the OS hd:
