1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

Will be using this for gaming. FPS, RPG games mostly, and video encoding/storing my dvd/bluray libray.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?

Budget is approximately 2800 including tax and shipping.

Just a mouse keyboard and monitor. Razer Lachesis, Logitech Keyboard, Samsung XL2370 monitor

Would like wireless ac on the motherboard since my desktop will be wireless and I will be upgrading my network setup soon.

I do have a windows 7 license I could reuse 64 bit, but may go with windows 8.

What version of Windows 7 do you have? Why are you considering Windows 8?

What does the G.Skill Trident X has that the G.Skill Ares doesn't?

I recommend dropping one of the 3TB Seagate HDDs and doubling the capacity of the Samsung 840 Pro to 512GB.

You should also consider the 4GB GTX 770 over the GTX 780 -- that is, if you play more RPGs than FPSes.

Does the Lite-On Blu-ray burner come with media software?
 
I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.

Trident had better timings, but other than that nothing.

I wouldn't mind increasing the size on the SSD, but I have a lot of movies, music and stuff to store. So I will have to see about that one.

I guess I will need to compare the performance of the GTX 770 vs 780 and look at the price differences.

I do not think it does come with media software, but I plan on using makemkv to create files I can stream so I probably be ok without the software.
 
Which Seasonic 750W PSU are you talking about?
 
Does anyone know how hard it would be or if it would be possible to get the h100i installed in that case with that motherboard?
 
Well as noted by Tiraides, drop the RAM down to the cheaper Ares RAM as the lower timings means virtually nothing in real world performance.

As for the PSU, it's not a bad choice.
 
I have that case, MB and an H100i setting on the bench, it looks like it will fit with one pair of fans. I wasn't going to use these there components for the same build but I could mock it up for test fit if no one else knows the answer.

MB and H100i are for a i7 4770k build in Define XL R2. My R4 case has a Z77 Sabertooth and i7 3770 in it currently.
 
What do you think of the define xl r2 compared to the r4? I did look at the XL, but wanted to try a mid tower setup this time around.
 
The XL is much larger, but still might not have enough room for the H100i with four fans. The XL comes with one more case fan and if you were going to run 2 video cards the bottom drive cage will clear easily were as the R4 could have clearance problems with certain dual video card set ups.

In addition the XL I have is slightly off as the MB does not line up with the IO plate very well, whereas both the R4s I've built had zero issues.
 
I would definitely be using only 2 fans on a h100i setup. Thanks for the info on the cases. I will stick with the R4 for this build.

You will probably need to add two case fans, a second intake fan at the front for the drive cage and an intake fan at the bottom of the case, also take the sound proofing material out of the top of the case to let it exhaust hot air.
 
I forgot to mention. I did pick up some extra fans so I will be able to increase the airflow. I was going to put two fans as exhaust on the top and add the fans you suggested for intake.
 
You only have 4 chassis fan headers that are controllable but you can use the case's built in fan control switch for the bottom case intake fan.
