Hey guys I got a new build 2 weeks ago. HAf922- gigabyte p67x ud3-b3 antec tp 650 and gigabyte gtx 570. Now the rig has been running perfectly as far as I can tell but there is one quirky issue.
When I enter a game like sc2 or Crysis2 2 whenever the gpu is working hard there seems to be a small buzzing/ ticking sound. From what I can tell its coming from either the psu or the graphics card .
It seems to only happen when under a load because if i alt tab out of a game then the sound goes away.

Now all the fans are working the rig has been completely stable with no blue screens or anything so I really don't know if there is anything wrong with it.
Unfortunately I do not know too much about these psu's do they go faster when under a load? if so it could just be that. And the gpu when its on auto the temps stay at about 80c but the fan doesn't spin very loud so it might be that. If i turn the fan to 65% manually the card stays cooler around 65c and I cant hear the sound but it could just be muffling out the sound.

So i think it could be the psu or video card unfortunately I don’t have alot of parts to swap it out to and don’t want to panic.
Anyone ever have a similar issue with a gigabyte gtx 570 or antec tp 650?

(might be the wrong section if its my gpu)

Sounds like coil whine to me. It's not a real problem; it can be annoying, but it doesn't indicate that anything is wrong with the PSU. If you can tolerate it, then don't worry.

I agree it sounds like a psu issue. I would call Antec and see what their techs say. Maybe they will swap it out for you.

Most likely coil whine. It can come from either the PSU or the GPU, and as was said, is not an indicator of any type of problem. If it's really annoying, you can ask Antec to see if they would RMA it for you.

Cool, thanks for the input guys, right now I just put in an information request to antec, hopefully they get back to me with some key information!

Seems like Antec wants to RMA the unit, which is unfortunate as I cant really afford any downtime and the rig has been at 3.8ghz stable with 10-20 hours of gaming (rift sc2 crysis2). Going to see if they will just note it for now, i really dont want to send it back!

just remember if the psu goes it can always take other stuff with it. That Antec unit is well constructed and would fair better than most but you never know.

If you can live with the noise, just keep the PSU. There's nothing functionally wrong with it.

I had them note it to the psu, if it gets out of hand I will replace it but for now I will keep it, rig is stable been running a small oc at 3.8ghz since fri no issues . And im pleasently suprised how antec has handeled the situation.

Can't even hear it if I turn Video card fan up past 50%.
