I am looking at building a new storage system with more space then my current three NAS's put together. I currently have about 15TB between all three of my NAS's, they are all RAID 5 brand name NAS's but I am running out of space on the larger NAS that house's my HD movies. I already have an Antec 1200 which I will put a power supply and MB into, I am thinking of getting these drive cages:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816133035

And filling four of them up with WD 2TB EARS drives.
I am geting a Perc 5i raid controller and will likely have to get a second.
I was hoping to try Free NAS but I don't believe the Perc 5i is supported so I may just have to go with Windows Server 2008R2, the board will have 8GB of RAM.
I am familiar with the Norco 4020 cases, but they are too big for my environment and frankly too expensive to consider at the moment.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed.

Buying 4 of those drive modules will cost the same as buying the norco case. That's something to consider. The 1200 and the 4020 are also quite similar in size.

Well actually since I live in Canada and would have to pay for shipping I'd be saving well over $100 by buying the drive cages, and I'm going to start with two and then add the second Perc 5i and two more cages later. Also, I forgot to mention that the motherboard I intend to use is in Nvidia 780i with an intel Q6600.

the store that cant be named here that ships out of vancouver carries norco, i just had mine shipped here free on their last promo...

Right I did see they carry it, but in the end it always comes down to dollars and cents, so unfortunately the 4220 is just not an option for me at the moment. As it is I am not going to max out the Antec 1200 right away, so I'll have room for expansion later. What sort of power supply to you guys recommend for a system with 16 hard drives? Should a 700W Seasonic suffice or is it necessary to up the wattage?

NC!X carries the 4020 for just a bit more than Newegg. They also often have free shipping/flat rate promotions, as Angus mentioned. If you're in the area you can pick them up free of charge from one of their many locations as well.

EDIT: You posted before me ;)

700W should be plenty.

Are you going to have less than 4 CPUs? If so, you should be fine although I do think staggered spin-up with anything over 10 drives is always a best practice.

I am going to be using a quad core socket 775 CPU, so only one physical cpu.

What RAID cards do you guys recommend? I am going to start off with a perc 5i but I am thinking about a second card that can possibly support more then 8 drives, however I don't want to have to drop $600 plus $$ if I can avoid it either.
