New build..New problems.

Just put together a new build which at first ran great. It all started with the computer randomly locking up in windows forcing me to restart the system. Now it does not even want to POST. When it does POST all I see is a black screen and then the monitors tell me there is no signal.

I have tried switching out power supplies with no success. Although the 620w PSU should be able to handle just about anything I throw at it. I am thinking it could possibly be the video card, but to be honest I dont even know where to start. help!

Here is what I am working with. using XP pro.

Asus A8N-SLI premium
2x1Gb G.skill
connect3d x1300xt 512mb. I was skeptical about the brand of this video card.
Corsair 620w modular PSU
AMD64 3800+ Venice
Raptor 72Gig.

I did have problems with the raptor at first. I had to install windows on another hdd and then it allowed me to install it on the raptor. It asks me which version of windows I want to start when it does actually get that far. Any help will be appreciated. I am just stumped on this one.
 
run your memory 1 stick at a time and see if it boots, try different memory sockets too. If it boots then seat the 2nd stick and check if it boots, if not then run the 2nd stick by itself and see if it boots.
 
No luck with that. The ram was used on my previous system also so I believe it should be good. Dont know about the sockets however.

Any other suggestions? I would really like to narrow down the problem incase i need to RMA something.

Ok I switched to a different PSU. The computer boots fine except for some cpu fan error (cpu fan is running just fine). However, something is making a clicking sound. Sounds like a hdd. This still seems to not make a difference.

The comp runs great until you do something that requires alot of memory usage. Whenever I open WoW it will crash. Maybe my RAM is bad after all? bad hdd? heeeelp!
 
Try running memtest and see if it gives up any errors. Run it for at least 12 hours if you can.
 
My brother and his friend have this motherboard and it runs fine. It looks like the main culprit could be your memory. The Nforce chipset can be picky on memory compatibility. If you have other DDR memory try using that and swapping it with the G. Skills. If not, do a BIOS update on the board and see if that corrects the problem.
 
I just reset the RAM in the sockets and got it working for a while. Then I restarted one time and now the comp wont POST. After about 10 tries it will finally POST and go through the graphic with the option to enter BIOS. Then it just goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor as if there were no hdds connected at all.

I'd bet money on the RAM being bad/incompatible. Try to get some other RAM to test with. Good luck.
 
Ok so the latest is that the comp now POST about 50% of the time. If it does POST then it will usually freeze soon after. I have removed everything except for one hdd, video card, ram...this didnt help at all. I tested the ram i have in another computer and it works fine. Also tried other sticks of ram in this computer and they did not work. I am thinking its the motherboard now. processor? what do you guys think?
