Thanks for looking in advance, i know how many of these types of posts you all see daily.. I'm about to pull the trigger on a new build and for the first time ever i'm converting over to Intel. I currently have a amd phenom 940BE w/ 4870 1gb.

So this is what I'm thinking to get at this time but i need your suggestion on mobo and psu.

Main purpose: Gaming
Monitor: Sammy T260 25.5"

i7 920 (my good friend bought for me today from micro-center :D ) good savings. $229.00

G.Card: I'm strongly considering a 5870 (or should I get a 5850? is it worth the extra 100.00) any brand ok or should i get specific like an Asus... ( I think warranty and service maybe what i should consider)

G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) $149.99 (not sure if I can do better, for the price and timing) suggestions is welcome.

Mobo: *I will tell you that I'm totally lost which direction to go. All i know is that it's going to be a 1366 mobo, I DO WANT to maximize OC'ng. I hear great things about Asus and eVGA. price wise i dont want to spend over 280.00 if i dont have to.. Thoughts so far: EVGA E758-A1 :: ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 :: EVGA 141-BL-E757-TR :: ASUS P6T SE Maybe the most I may consider going up to is a ASUS P6X58D

HDD: Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ x2 or WD black 640(I should get two correct?)

PSU: i am going to need help with this one, i know this is area i shouldn't be cheap on, down the road i know i have to keep in mind the possibility of CF'ng.

HSU: Megahalems (going to try to get the 920 to 4.0)

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
OC'ng, raid, CF'ng(maybe later on) single GPU is ok for now.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
yes. Windows 7

Thanks for your feeback

BUMP: could use some help please:

In reference to a budget: It's more of the lines of what really make sense in order to achieving maximized OC'ng pontential and anything that gaming can be thrown at it with out going crazy.

So looking build around the 920 as it's my first purchase already finalized.

Again, thanks for your assistance.

For most games (not named Crysis) at a 1080p resolution, the HD5850 would be just fine. Among ATI video cards, XFX and Visiontek offer limited lifetime warranties and comparatively better customer service. XFX cards are generally more available than Visiontek have been lately.

YMMV on overclocking in general, so I recommend getting the cheapest board that offers you the best performance. I haven't been following overclocker-friendly boards that much, so I can't make a recommendation there. You'll probably have to perform some more research on your own.

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus reportedly performs about as well as the Megahalems, yet it costs comparatively less. Buy the Hyper 212+ if it's in stock at NewEgg.

The Samsung HD502HJ is preferred over the Western Digital WD6401AALS due to its comparative price (cheaper) and performance level (better), but the WD6401AALS is no slouch. The only reason to buy two drives is if you want to use a RAID 0 setup, but if one drive fails, you lose the entire RAID setup -- and RAID is NOT a back-up solution.

There are plenty of quality PSUs available, but I'll simplify things for you here: Go with the Seasonic M12D SS-850.

i've never setup my system for raid 0, If i understand correctly for gaming purposes it doesnt improve the frames it enhances the load times.. I've also been seeing a SSD setup with a TR HDD. I need to read up more on SSD's and if it matters to me or not.

Great price on the Seasonic M12D i will certainly be picking up one of those. I want to pull the trigger on the P6T SE just need to be certain that's a good direction to go to to maximized cpu and ram. I think tose g.skills will give me good timing which is what counts..
